Dennis Poeschel (WI)...Tom Laska (MA)...Jim English (SC)...Dick Turpin (NE).

Stunning hand-carved gobbler head box, with tail feather lid, by Wisconsin callmaker
Dennis Poeschel.

Another beautifully-carved Dennis Poeschel box call, and some of his field grade calls.

Tom Laska box with a boatpaddle-like handle extension. The box is sycamore and the lid is walnut. Tom is from Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

Unique single-sided box made by Jim English of Seneca, South Carolina.

Note the unusually-shaped lid on this call made by Dick Turpin of Lincoln, Nebraska. The finish Dick uses on his boxes is similar to the finish Stradivari used on his violins. Dick uses rabbit dung, black beer, and turkey blood to make up a finish for his calls. Stradivari used rabbit dung, black beer, and red wine. I'm not positive, but I think the wood is walnut.
