Welcome to the CMGC Meeting Minutes Archive. Here you will find complete details for past meetings.

12/12/01:  Diaper Jeanie technology was demonstrated. Tom predicted his success in MB02. Scott reported his most recent brush with celebrity as he participated in the closing of I-70 for several hours. Cribbage then became the focus of the meeting and the Strings of Luck provided a predictably close match. Subconversations of PDAs, Vikings, and RVs were interspersed throughout the games.

Baby Rea's first portrait12/5/01:  This was the first meeting since the arrival of Baby Reagan and may have been the last fire of the season. Newly finalized MB02 travel plans were discussed. Scott brought a trial thick crust Donato's and Jeff brought hot dogs to roast.

God only knows what happened during this time

9/11/01:  There was no meeting this week because some crazy son of a bitch orchestrated the demolition of two great icons of the American Dream.

9/4/01:  There was no meeting this week, perhaps due to Labor Day Weekend burnout. Who knows?

8/28/01:  The meeting began at Byrn's Pub in Grandview, but moved to Tom's office when the Byrn's scene deteriorated. General discussions on golf and cabinetry followed. A return to the CMGC's ways of old was discussed. Jeff volunteered to resume his role as Handicap Chairman and Steve volunteered as Tee Time Chairman. The meeting adjourned at Tee Jay's, but only Tom attended.

8/21/01:  There was a meeting this week, but somebody is going to have to remind me what happened.

8/14/01:  The meeting opened with 9 holes at Upper Lansdowne. Scott K. was the titleist at 40 on the back nine. We adjourned to Planck's for half price pizza and beer. Plans for next year were discussed along with a bunch of other trivia.

8/7/01:  The meeting opened at Barley's in the Short North, but quickly moved to Barley's on 33 when Scott K. noted how much closer to home it was for everyone. Last week's Reunion was reviewed and the Myrtle Beach 2002 roommates were reviewed.

7/31/01:  There may have been a meeting this week, but the editor was in Maine.

7/24/01:  The first of the new format Quarterly Meetings was held at Roosters and brought out nearly the entire club. The agenda included finalizing plans for MB2002 and Course Handicaps for the 2001 Club Championship. Tentative rooming assignments were made. Pitchers and Donkey Drums were consummed.

7/17/01:  There was no meeting this week.

7/10/01:  There was no meeting this week either.

7/3/01:  Humidity, mosquitos and impending showers precludede a Pitching Match. Instead, the weekend's record round was reviewed. MB02 courses and condos were discussed. Bottle rockets were launched. A classic summer evening was enjoyed.

6/26/01:  A break in the steam (and mosquitos) permitted a Pitching Match, or rather a pair of Pitching Matches. Jeff won the 18 hole match 1 up over Vince on 19 despite trailing for most of the event. Jeff also won the 9 hole match 6-8-13 over Vince and Steve respectively. The meeting moved into the screen porch just in time to preserve enough blood to survive. Innumerable golf topics were discussed including the virtures of squeezing the Challenge into the tight summer schedule. While interest existed, it was underrepresented and the 2001 Challenge was officially cancelled. The remainder of the meeting was deemed too relaxing to entertain cribbage.

6/19/01:  Although not technically "here", Summer arrived with another hot, muggy Tuesday evening. As the sun sank behind the trees, thoughts of a Pitching Match were entertained, but quickly dispelled as Scott arrived and the mosquitos attacked. The meeting concluded around the lopsided cribbage table.

6/12/01:  The fire weather ran out and the meeting was forced onto the screen porch. Scott K's new personal best round of 79 (@ 66.4/104) was celebrated en absentia. Thanks to the input from our members, a tentative date of July 28-29 was set for the 2001 Club Championship at Foxfire. Please take a minute to review the entire 2001 Tournament Schedule. The dates for Myrtle Beach 2002 golf rounds were set for February 22, 23, 24 and 25. All interested participants must be ready to place $100 deposits no later than July 15th. Stay tuned to this site for more details. Tom's Party House was tentatively chosen as the site of the 2002 Lobsterfest Feast. Productive meeting, huh?

6/5/01:  Tuesdays seem to be lucky for decent fire weather as Mother Nature provided another calm, cool evening around the fire ring. A bunch of stuff was discussed.

Charles Darwin, 1809-18825/29/01:  Mother Nature turned off the spigot long enough to mow and squeeze in a fire. A number of evolutionary paths were discussed for the future of the CMGC. The Quarterly Meeting/Tournament Plan emerged as the leader. Renewed energy developed for the four most popular events: Myrtle Beach, Lobsterfest, Club Championship, the Tom's Cabin Classic. Hot dogs were roasted and beer cans melted.

5/22/01:  Despite the promise of interesting news, meeting attendance was slight. The cool Spring air, cold ale and blazing fire made for some abstract conversation.

5/15/01:  This week's meeting was held on the links at Upper Lansdowne.

5/9/01:  The first ten holes of the Pitching Match were dead even between Vince and Jeff when Scott arrived late citing an emergency plucking and ass shaving of his dog Abbey. Jeff won the re-started match 7-13-19 over Vince and Scott respectively. Bug fog created a Cone of Death and allowed the meeting to proceed outdoors around a fire. After examining and exhausting all available options, the Lobsterfest Feast (still scheduled for 5/19) was moved to the Red Lobster on Sawmill Rd. We've come a long way in ten years. The meeting concluded around roasting hotdogs.

5/1/01:  This week's meeting was held on the links at Upper Lansdown where Jeff and Scott squeezed in 15 holes before the sun set.

This is what we didn't see4/24/01:  The meeting began at 7:15 due one member's late return from Charlotte. Jeff won the darkness-shortened 9 hole Pitching Match 5-8-14 over Vince and Scott respectively. The first fire of 2001 was lit at 8:15. The first Iridium Flare of 2001 was searched for (unsuccessfully) at 8:45. Preliminary Lobsterfest Feast assignments were made. Hotdogs were roasted between Scott's episodes of compulsive fire stoking and the meeting concluded over the glowing embers.

Billy is currently 11th on tour in putting4/17/01:  Despite April Showers cancelling the Pitching Match, this was the most attended meeting of the new millenium. Evolution is indeed a curious thing. A Putting Match was foregone for some putting practice into the auto-ball-returner during which Steve remarked that Vince's putting stroke is not nearly as strange as Billy Mayfair's (it was taken as a compliment). The Vid's ECOT woes were reviewed. Alternatives to our current handicapping system were discussed with GHIN emerging as the most likely successor; we have been streching the 10 member rule for years. A debate over the modification of the MaTER was tabled until a future meeting, and the current version of MaTER will be used for Lobsterfest 2001 eligibilty. In his final act as Social Director, Tom suggested the Picnic Shelter at Upper Lansdowne as a site for the Lobsterfest Feast. Countless politically incorrect websites were reviewed and the meeting concluded with Steve's successful introduction to cribbage.

4/10/01:  Jeff won the Pitching Match over Vince 1 up through 19 for the second straight week, although Scott won five of the holes he contested (arriving late and entering the match on the 9th tee). Alternatives to the complexity of the Tee Time Cancellation Proposal were sought. Course membership information was reviewed. Both the Cribbage Match and the consumption of the Vid's chips & salsa were split 1-1-1.

4/3/01:  The Pitching Match Season opened with a tight match that ended with Jeff beating Vince 1 up after 19. Pending the results of an effort that can't begin until July, it was unanimously decided that Myrtle Beach 2002 will be based at the same facility as MB01. A new Tee Time Policy was drafted: for 2002, only 1 time will be made unless 6 or more commit at least 8 days in advance (2 Fridays before the round). Otherwise, the 5th committee shall be responsible for securring the second tee time. Tom reported (en absentia) that Buca di Beppo is opening a second location in Worthington; our Social Director volunteered to check on the seating capacity of the new location's Kitchen Table for a possible change of venue of the Championship Feast. The meeting concluded (at the Vid's request) around the cribbage table where despite winning every corner, it took Vince 3 tries to win a single game.

3/27/01:  I don't think there was a meeting this week. Check back soon for a link to my vacation report page.

It's inconcieveable!3/20/01:  Several tournament dates were established. Please refer to the Tournaments Page for specific dates. Buca di Beppo was confirmed as the host of the 2001 Club Championship Banquet. By popular demand, this event was moved from its traditional Sunday afternoon spot to Saturday, September 15th at 6:30 pm (yes, we have a reservation). Tom lost a bet that John Daly was in the top 20 on the PGA Tour Money List. Tom also provided a critique of Showtime's offerings. In a related fit of buffoonery, the critique spawned an endless string of Princess Bride quotes. The meeting concluded around the cribbage table with another whooping of the Strings of Luck Theory.

3/13/01:  Scott K. hosted the meeting. Abby provided the entertainment. Jeff won a Canadian Mister 29 cribbage board auction. Upper Lansdowne was selected as the site of the 2001 Lobsterfest. Suggestions were made for a Feast site, but a decision was delayed to allow additional input. Tom's in absentia suggestion of Bucco de Beppo to host the 2001 Championship Banquet was ratified. The meeting concluded with a painful cribbage match.

3/6/01:  Myrtle Beach 2001, A Golf Oddessy was reviewed and considered for a complete repeat in 2002. Results from the website rating poll were incomplete and not reviewed. A precedent was set to count all four official MB01 rounds as Tournament Scores. All future official Myrtle Beach Trip rounds shall also count as Tournament Scores. The following courses were selected as candidates for Lobsterfest 2001: Raymond, Rickenbacker, Foxfire, Upper Lansdowne, and Kyber Run. A committee will be formed to collectively recall past Myrtle Beach trips and results so that they may be recorded for posterity. The meeting adjourned without a cribbage game.

2/27/01:  No meeting this week due to recent return from MB01.

2/20/01:  No meeting this week due to impending MB01 departure.

2/13/01:  This was a serious meeting. The Vid presented an explanation of the Titleist VH-1. The tournament structure was established: Roommates, Everyone Is A Diamond x2, Reverse Seed (all best balls). Par 3s were counted at each course (Oyster = 5, Marsh = 5, Pawleys = 4, Witch = 5). Cash and dues for 2001 were also established: $5 dues, $5 overall low net, day 1 $5/$5, day 2 $5/$5, day 3 $6/$4, day 4 $5/$5. The meeting concluded with a three game cribbage match to determine intra-room assignments for the meeting attendees.

2/6/01:  eBay auctions were won and lost. Course Handicaps and 90% Tournament Handicaps were calculated using the Treasurer's New Math and confirmed with the USGA Handicap Calculator. Glasses were compared. The meeting concluded with cribbage and general buffoonery.

1/30/01:  The MB01 Entry Fee was determined. The total Entry Fee will be $50 with each of the four events costing $6 plus $4 for the par 3s. $5 of the $50 will build a purse for the overall, 4 day low net winner. The remaining $5 of the $50 will fund CMGC operations throughout 2001. The meeting concluded around the cribbage board.

1/23/01:  Golf equipment was researched and hockey was watched. The CMGC Homepage counter was determined to be inaccurate and will be reset to 650. A Bojangle's location was found between The Witch and the Myrtle Beach Airport.

1/16/01:  This meeting was sparsely attended, but the Vid did take a break from draining his bed to deliver a check to Jeff.

1/9/01:  Over three hours of the meeting was devoted to an exhaustive discussion of the countless Myrtle Beach scenarios. While rooming assignments were made, the definition of the tournament structure was deferred to a later meeting. The meeting concluded around the cribbage board where much to the inexplicable dismay of the contestants, Vince finally snapped his 16 game winless streak.

1/3/01:  The first meeting of the new millenium (depending on who's counting) started off with a review of a new golf marketplace website. Countless Ping putter models were reviewed. A ruling on cell phones from the Australian Golf Association was adopted as a new club rule. The meeting moved to the cribbage table where the laws of probability took another thrashing. In a game Oswald Jacoby calculates is 85% luck, Vince's steadily growing record of 16 consecutive losses (including 5 skunks) stands as convincing evidence for the Strings of Luck theory. Much in the way Newton provided us with a law for understanding gravity, we will someday understand how the intricacies of life interact to influence what today we refer to as "luck."

12/27/00:  The last meeting of the new millenium (depending on who's counting) was sparsely attended despite the special schedule adjustment. Most of the meeting was spent studying the subtle historical differences between Ping putters. The bitter cold precluded a trip to the hot tub. Note also that the minutes were amended for 12/12/00.

12/19/00:  Tom reminded the attendants that the Ping vs. Titleist Manufacturer's Title was won by the Ping team of Vince and Jeff following the withdrawl of half of the Titleist team. According to the rules established during the inaugural match, the withdrawing party is liable for the entire debt of the side. The Handicaps were reviewed and approved. For the record, the lowest handicap attained by a CMGC member who had ever posted a handicap index above 15.0 is 11.2 by Jeff. Tom revealed his 3 goals for 2001: buy a house, LASIK his eyes, and remember what his third goal is. Three games of Cribbage were contested and the meeting concluded in the hot tub.

12/12/00:  The only memorable highlight from this meeting was a calculation of Secretary Scott K's stipend for 10 dedicated years of service: $1.08. Thanks Scott.

12/5/00:  The first meeting of the off-season began with a review of the Fall 2000 Myrtle Beach Trip. Tom presented an account of his recent volumous experience with duck liver and gumbo. Some Action Heroes were reviewed and meatballs were slowly digested. The meeting concluded around the cribbage table.

11/28/00:  There was no meeting today due to the recent return from Myrtle Beach.

11/21/00:  There was no meeting today due to the imminent departure for Myrtle Beach.

11/14/00:  There was a meeting today, but nobody remembers what was discussed.

11/7/00:  The rain cleared and permitted a late-season fire meeting. Implementing the Leaf Rule for the Club Championship was discussed (see the side bar story on the home page). Plans for both the Fall and Spring Myrtle Beach trips were discussed. The debate between London Country Club and Upper Lansdowne raged on. Scott K. volunteered to research corporate memberships including a full report at the next meeting. The election and various new taxes were debated. The meeting ended soon after the hot dogs were finished.

10/31/00:  There was no meeting this week.

10/24/00:  Leaves, wet grass and impending darkness prevented a Pitching Match. Golf topics included swing mechanics, a review of the handicapping method for the CC2K, continued discussion of the Fall 2000 Myrtle Beach trip, and some other stuff. The meeting concluded around the cribbage board.

10/17/00:  Stuff was discussed, but nobody remembers what it was.

10/10/00:  Jeff won what may be the final Pitching Match of the new millenium 2 up over Vince. After much debate, a handicap formula was established for determining the 27 hole Handicap Indices for the rescheduled 2000 Club Championship. Here's the math: (Index)(119.3)(1.5) ÷ 113 rounded to the nearest whole number. Cribbage may have been played too.

10/3/00:  Was there even a meeting this week?

9/26/00:  Jeff beat Vince 5 up in the Pitching Match. Alternate dates were checked for Tom's Cabin Classic. The only remaining date before winterization is 10/28 in the A-frame. While too few responses were received to reach a concensus on a reschedule date for the 2000 Club Championship, Indian Springs was selected as the site. The rain-shortened tournament will be compressed into one day and contested over 27 holes. All three nines at Indian Springs can be walked for $26.

9/19/00:  Jeff took the Pitching Match 2 up over Vince despite misjudging his club selection for the freshly mowed course. Richard attended to tighten up plans for the Champion's Banquet. The banquet will begin at 5:00 pm on Saturday. Tom coordinated the Everyone Is A Diamond draw of tee times and pairings for the first round. Scott securred 20 beef tenderloins and handed them off to Tom for marinade and preparation. Travel and final round plans for the Fall Myrtle Beach Trip continued to evolve.

9/13/00:  Vince took the special edition Wednesday Night Pitching Match 8&6 over Jeff. Most of the meeting took place around the first fire of the season. Food assignments for the Championship Banquet were made. Filet mignon will be bought by the club to celebrate the first champion of the new millenium. In a nod to the aging process, the Banquet was moved from Sunday afternoon to Saturday evening. Tom's Cabin Classic was moved from October 7th to October 14th. The meeting adjourned as the flames died to embers.

9/5/00:  There was no Pitching Match this week due to inadequate course maintenance. After much debate about the virtues of the MATER, there was no change in this rule. Few active members should have a problem meeting the 15 round annual requirement. Since Myrtle Beach rounds count, this requires less than one round per month. Members who fail to qualify do so by their own choice.

8/29/00:  There was no meeting this week due to vacation schedules.

8/22/00:  Vince won the Pitching Match 3 and 2. Our Myrtle Beach Coordinator securred an outstanding deal at the Forest Dunes Condos, a subsidiary of Sands Resorts. With any luck, the courses will be Oyster Bay, Marsh Harbor, Pawleys Plantation and The Witch. Myrtle Beach scores were determined to not be T-scores. The CMGC will be subscribing to On The Green to expand our resources for this valuable destination.

8/15/00:  There was no meeting this week due to vacation schedules.

8/8/00:  One of the more momentous meetings of late began with Vince holding on to win the Pitching Match 2 up. Richard volunteered by proxy to host 2000 Club Championship dinner 9/24. Tom lectured on his experiences with meat. Tom also volunteered to supply the tables for 2001, A Lobster Oddessy. A proposal was made to deep fried wings at the Club Championship dinner. Another proposal was made to move 2001, A Lobster Oddessy to Catawba Willows. Rickenbacker was unanimously selected as the site of the 2000 Club Championship. In the meeting's strangest period, Tom relayed a story about an encounter with his phallus and a particularly sticky XXL sticker. Strange days, indeed.

8/1/00:  Jeff took the Pitching Match with a commanding 6 up win. The Tournament Committee unanimously approved the in absentia request to reschedule the 2000 Club Championship from September 16-17 to September 23-24. Very little else can be recalled from this meeting.

7/25/00:  A rumor somehow floated about that there was no meeting on weeks following tournaments. As the following minutes attest, this is but a rumor. Vince finally snapped Jeff's reign on the Pitching Match by winning 4 up. Scores from the Summer Heat were analyzed. Preliminary discussions began for Myrtle Beach 2001, A Golf Oddessy. The dates for next year's Myrtle Beach rounds were established at February 23, 24, 25 and 26.

7/18/00:  Noting a relationship between practice and success, Jeff made it three in a row beating Vince 4 up through 15; Scott entered the match late, but would have won the 15th hole. October 7th was confirmed as the date of Tom's Cabin Classic. Both cabins were reserved for this date. Things got strange after that as the conversation swung to the Vid's dissertation on the etimology of the bird. He claims the gesture was derived from William of Orange era knights phlucking arrows from their yew with their middle fingers. Vince offered an alternate etimology in the acronym derived from "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" scribed on Scotland Yard police blotters in the early 18th century. It got even stranger when it was suggested that a page be created at the CMGC website voying Tom's web surfing habits. The meeting was rescued with a cribbage match. Whew!

7/11/00:  The meeting began with a three way Pitching Match with Jeff winning over Vince and Scott 15 to 16 to 22 respectively. MaTER scores were reviewed through June. Scott presented an update on Voice Over IP technology. The meeting concluded over the cribbage board.

7/4/00:  There was no meeting this week so that all CMGC members would have time to celebrate and honor our nation's independence.

6/27/00:  Jeff snapped Vince's 6 match streak by staving off a late charge to win the Pitching Match 2 up. Vague feedback on the MaTER was discussed and a chart was conceived. Subtleties of Ping wedges were discussed at great length.

6/20/00:  Despite a strong late round charge, Vince held Jeff off in the Pitching match winning 3 up through 17. The new Major Tournament Eligibility Rule (MaTER) was finally established. CMGC members must accumulate 15 rounds with the club during the 12 months preceeding a major in order to qualify. Read the complete MaTER on the Rules Page.

6/13/00:  In a near repeat of last week's match, the Pitching Match came down to the final hole with Vince edging Jeff 2 up. The Handicap Committee observed that the CMGC eligible scores season is identical to that of Tom's air conditioning season (March-Novermber). The new Major Tournament Eligibility Rule (MaTER) was discussed ad nauseum without resolution, but with progress. A ruling has been promised at next week's meeting. The Rules Committee did reach concensus on the Heat Rule. Riding will cost you 2 strokes per side at this year's Summer Heat.

6/6/00:  This week's Pitching Match came down to the wire with Vince edging Jeff 2 up. The Tournament Committee set October 7th as the date for Tom's Cabin Classic. Some other stuff happened that has since faded from memory.

5/30/00:  Despite the long rough, the meeting started with a Pitching Match. Vince beat Jeff 8 and 6. Some quick calculations suggest that Richard's Lobsterfest performance may warrent a Handicap Adjustment under Section 5.3. See the Handicap Page for complete details. Dates were made and changed for two events and Foxfire was selected as back up to Tree Links for the 2000 Challenge.

5/23/00:  As indicated by tradition, there was no meeting this week.

5/16/00:  In the spirit of the Lobsterfest, the Pitching Match went on despite the threat of rain. Vince won with 9 over Tom at 15, Jeff at 15.5 and John at 16.5. The Feast hostship was finally awarded to John. Tom agreed to buy a propane burner on the CMGC's behalf on which the lobster will be cooked. Jeff prepped some photos for eBay ads. Scott detailed recent anatomical enlargements in his throat. The details of a tournament within a tournament were laid (see the Home Page for those details).

5/9/00:  First things first. In a suprising upset, Vince won the Pitching Match with 9 points over Tom (13), John (13.5) and Jeff (15.5). It was discovered that the only times available at Valley View were 7 or 11 am and that a new course for the 2000 Lobsterfest was needed. Following a 90 minute debate, Deer Creek was unanimously approved and times were securred. See the Home Page for details. The Social Director made food assignments. Check the Home Page frequently for your assignment. The remainder of the 2000 Tournament Schedule was also laid out. See the Tournaments Page for dates. The meeting dried up shortly after dark.

5/2/00:  Tom, the favorite for this year's Lobsterfest, took the pitching match 14.5 to Jeff's 17 and Vince's 19.5 points through 17 holes. A preliminary count of Lobsterfest attendees indicates a need for 3 tee times. The meeting concluded over roasting hot dogs.

4/25/00:  The meeting opened with the first Pitching Match of the new millenium with Jeff beating Vince 2 up. The used club market was reviewed after which the meeting moved to the fire ring. Despite continual discussion, little was decided.

4/18/00:  No minutes were recorded for this meeting, but the tub was relaxing.

4/11/00:  Other than some transcendental golf thought and a review of the rather bland 2000 Masters, very little was accomplished. Cribbage was contested and the hot tub was enjoyed.

4/4/00:  The meeting opened with a review of the current golf club market. A particularly exciting eBay auction closed in a particularly painful ending at 9:00 with some other bastard getting the awesome deal. Tom's latest website recommendations were reviewed. A portrait of past Lobsterfest winners was captured. The meeting concluded around the putt returner.

3/28/00:  Valley View was reconfirmed as the site of the 2000 Lobsterfest. Countless items from countless eBay categories were reviewed, but no bids were accepted. Two three way cribbage matches were contested. The meeting concluded in the hot tub.

3/21/00:  Jeff reviewed new sources of affordable golf equipment. The Handicaps were reviewed. The Committee's adjustment to the course and slope rating at Diamondback was also reviewed and ratified. The meeting concluded in a rather lopsided manner around the cribbage table.

3/7/00:  MB2K was reviewed. The course selection and house concept received continued strong support. Sites were discussed for the 2000 Lobsterfest. Richard volunteered his house for the Feast and Valley View was selected as the site of the course. One alternative remains a possibility: a return to the roots of the tournament with a trip to Cherokee Hills and Indian Lake. Check this site often for news. Assuming May 14th is Mother's Day, the 2000 Lobsterfest will be held May 20-21. The meeting concluded around the first fire of the millenium and featured the ceremonial Christmas tree burning.

2/15/00:  As the date nears, MB2K hype rivals the Y2K hype of a couple months ago. The number of different travel plans eclipsed the triple digit mark last night as several new permutations were revealed. The MB2K Committee assigned a slope rating of 126 to Diamondback since the MBGA Rating Committee has the flu. Check the MB2K Page for updated Course Handicaps. The MB2K Committee also reconfirmed their decision to cancel the Overall Championship aspect of the trip due to lack of interest. Other noteworthy minutia included Tom's sore knees, John's Dachshound beard, and the fact that Richard has picked up ALL of the excrement emitted from Jack's ass. The meeting concluded in the hot tub.

2/1/00:  This was the last fully-attended meeting before MB2K. The tournament and fee structure was finalized. The ever-expanding number of travel variables were examined. Check the MB2K Page for complete details. Richard made an appearance and set a CMGC record for distance walked barefoot in snow. No cribbage, but in a growing pattern, the meeting concluded in the hot tub.

1/25/00:  Meeting attendance grows stronger as MB2K approaches. Creating the JPG on the home page from Jeff's Paul Hahn, Jr. video was the first order of business. The Vid regaled us with his tales of airline reservations, lending new heights to the humor surrounding the "fly boys." A thorough examination of the myriad of travel options ensued. Following some questionable references to preparedness, the meeting adjourned to the cribbage table. The meeting again concluded in the hot tub.

1/18/00:  MB2K hype is growing rapidly. The first 80% of this meeting was spent online looking for flight and airfare information. Rooming assignments and course handicaps were reconfirmed from earlier meetings. Check the MB2K Page for complete details. The meeting concluded in the hot tub.

I'm Tom's stalker!1/11/00:  Strong attendance was indicative of the approaching golf season. Still, early topics centered around Tom's newest stalker. Check out the full story by clicking on her picture. Next was a discussion of the strategic differences among current diets. The Vid's diet is marked by a severe decrease in intellectual capacity and is not recommended by the CMGC. The meeting concluded with an uncharacteristically balanced cribbage match.

1/4/00:  There will be no changes in the Golf Meeting Schedule for 2000. The first meeting of the new millenium was quite similar to the last meeting of the last millenium. Jeff debuted his new BeCu Eye2s, the BCS game was ignored, and MB2K travel arrangements were discussed. The Vid's relationship with Lady Luck was examined around the Cribbage Table and the meeting concluded with Vince defeating Jeff 3 & 1 in a first-ever putting match.

12/28/99:  Attendance at the last golf meeting of the millenium was on par with all previous meetings. MB2K Course Handicaps were calculated for all courses but Diamondback (where the slope rating is due in the coming weeks). The MB2K courses were studied using fly-by, hole-by-hole, and other methods. We discovered that the Columbus North Coast Golf Show has the highest entry fee of the entire tour, inluding New York City. I take that as a compliment. The meeting finally adjourned to the cribbage table where the unprecedented luck trends of last week were reversed. The meeting was adjourned until the next millenium.

12/21/99:  The second to last meeting of the millenium began with a symphony of odd noises from Tom including a unique rendition of the William Tell Overture played on an empty beer bottle in his mouth. The MB2K course handicaps preview stalled when the internet failed to produce enough bandwidth to keep pace. The meeting moved to the cribbage table where Oswald Jacoby's calculation of an 85% luck factor in this great game was soundly rejected by Jeff and Scott in repeated trouncings of Vince and Tom/John.

12/14/99:  Wind and rain kept the meeting indoors. Key discussion topics included final 1999 handicaps, or the lack thereof due to tardy scores, Jeff's complicated golf club trading strategies, Tom's sales experiences, and PDAs versus paper organizers. The meeting quickly adjourned to the cribbage table and concluded in the hot tub.

12/7/99:  The Pearl Harbor Memorial Meeting featured a broad variety of discussion topics from canned good expiration dates to the effect of various peppers on Tom's burning ring of fire. As the conversation deteriorated, the decision was made to reture to the real fire ring. The ensuing blaze balanced the high 30s air temperature to create a comfortable evening. Not bad for mid-December. Tee locations and course handicaps for MB2K will be decided at the next meeting. Be there.

11/30/99:  Stories about the Fall 1999 Myrtle Beach Trip took the forefront. Check out the whole story at the Fall 1999 Archive Page. Scott offered insight into his trouser failure, Jeff's route was unanimously praised, and coupons were reviewed. The cribbage game was briefly interrupted by a pizza gorge.

11/23/99:  How long will it last? The balmy temperatures and clear skies allowed yet another late-season fire meeting. Attendance was effected by GI unrest, but Tom made a stealth appearance, creeping back to the fire by way of the field. Only the light of the moon and his cricket impersonation gave his position away. Rounds were reviewed and plans discussed. The route for the Fall 1999 Myrtle Beach Trip was established by Jeff. Bean burritos were eaten and the meeting adjourned around 10.

11/16/99:  The meeting was pushed indoor for the first time in months thanks to a frigid 37F at 6:30. The upside was an opportunity to reflect on Jeff's recent tour of Tennessee's finest courses, the subtleties of handicap stroke allocation according to the USGA, route planning for Myrtle Beach trips, and other less publishable topics. The meeting concluded around the cribbage table.

11/9/99:  Who would have thought? Mid 70s in the middle of November provided perfect weather for a late season fire. Fluctuations in the MB2K roster appear to have finally stopped at a definite 12. Vince, Jeff and John delved in a deep detailed discussion of video RAM, Tiger's approach to 17, the NFL, diets, handicap strokes. While many of the topics saw little resolution, there was concensus to further examine the USGA's guidelines on handicapping. Stay tuned. The meeting adjourned at 9:30.

11/2/99:  In a break from tradition, the meeting was at a Shooters. Their deals were outstanding and they offered a comfortable cribbage environment. In another break from tradition, Tom and Vince took Jeff and Scott for $4.00. A move was made and seconded to start future meetings at Shooters at 6:00 to avoid the ever increasing music volume.

10/19/99:  Despite "finalizing" the MB2K roster last week, it was again a topic of discussion. The Vid announced a $95 fare from CMH to MYR and is checking into the details. Our commitment to the Rules of Golf was discussed and the webmaster agreed to update the Rules & Tournaments page. Darkness again precluded the pitching match, and again the fire was fabulous.

10/12/99:  The MB2K roster was finalized, or nearly so, and rooming assignments discussed. The MB2K Coordinator agreed to obtain a floor plan for Kraft House before finalizing the rooming assignments. The MB2K Page has been launched and will continue to be updated until tee time. Check it out. Darkness again precluded the pitching match, but the fire was fabulous.

10/5/99:  Since it is dark by 7:30 now, the meeting began around the fire. MB2K courses and rooming assignments were reviewed. A 2-man night par 3 scramble was proposed and seconded. The closing holes of last Saturday's round at the Trout Club were reviewed.

9/28/99:  Man, how time flies. My apologies to those of you keeping up with the minutes. Vacations, business, weddings and other distractions have hindered my note-taking ability. Anyway, while the pitching match was cancelled due to the early arrival of darkness, it allowed for a several hour fire. Discussions included rooming assignments and tournament structure for MB2K, the merits of home schooling, Catawba Willows as a candidate for Lobsterfest 2000, and more.

8/31/99:  Attendance was scant following the Club Championship weekend. Handicaps were reviewed. The pitching match was won in near darkness by Vince 1 up. The meeting concluded around the campfire with a thorough discussion of MB2K.

8/24/99:  Steady rain precluded a pitching match and kept the meeting under roof. Club Championship course handicaps were calculated using the USGA's Handicap Calculator. The meeting concluded around the cribbage table.

8/17/99:  Despite the relaxing evening on the deck, very little club business was transacted at this meeting.

8/10/99:  Debate over the site of the Club Championship continued, but Reid Park North remains the front runner. Couples interested in a Fall Myrtle Beach should contact the Trip Coordinator. Scott K. won the 3 way Pitching Match 15 to 19 to 22 over Jeff and Vince respectively. The meeting concluded around the cribbage table.

8/3/99:  Excellent weather and a full tournament review agenda collaborated to minimize productivity at this meeting. Prospects for the Fall Myrtle Beach were discussed. While no decisions were finalized, the concensus is for a return to Reid Park North for the Club Championship. There was no Pitching Match.

7/27/99:  An awkward 5 participants for the Summer Heat plus congestion at Deer Creek left us without a tee time and forced a change to Valley View. Course Handicaps were re-calculated and can be reviewed on the Events Page. Preliminary discussions about MB2K continued with a pseudo-presentation by Scott K. of his Las Vegas Option. Details are still expected from him as well as Base and John regarding Tampa and Jeckyll Island respectively. Vince won the 18 hole Pitching Match 4/2. The meeting concluded around the Cribbage table.

7/13/99:  Attendance was once again a weak point, although our Social Director made a brief appearance to work on his pitching and comment on various philosophical points. The meeting was sponsored by Minuteman Pizza. Course Handicaps for the Summer Heat were calculated and can be reviewed on the Events Page. Vince won the 18 hole Pitching Match 2/0.

7/6/99:  The slim attendance for this meeting provided a distraction-free environment that allowed the attendees to focus on golf. The mission of the CMGC was examined and the commitment to golf was renewed. Pay attention for changes in the coming weeks. In a suprise upset, Vince won the Pitching Match 6/4.

6/29/99:  The 5th meeting of the month began with a return of the Pitching Tournament. Jeff won, but the event came down to the last hole where Jeff needed 1 point to keep Tom from halving the match. Vince was way last. After obtaining committments from some additional members, we elected to reserve both houses for the 9/25-26 Fall Outdoor Classic. Deer Creek was confirmed as the site of the 1999 Summer Heat after learning that they have a large inventory of logo shirts. A second Pitching Match was cut short by whiffs, impending darkness, and finally by a golf ball/van "interaction." The meeting concluded with a camp fire.

6/22/99:  Tom opened the meeting with news about his stalker. You can learn more about the stalker at her website. Tom also brought news of a fabulous new possibility for the Fall Outdoor Classic. Imagine the uncertainty and discomfort of tents and rain replaced by a real house on Lake Erie. There's even a fire ring! Stay tuned. The pitching match was cancelled due to lack of interest.

6/15/99:  The lack of interest in a camping component for The Challenge was confirmed and that tournament will remain a single day event. The controversial interference ruling from the 14th green at Cherokee Hills was examined using the Rules of Golf. The Rules clearly establish an error in the ruling. Unfortunately, the ruling was made by committee and the decision is irreversible since the match was completed. Preliminary plans for Myrtle Beach 2000 (hereafter referred to as MB2K) were discussed. Scott K. will be reporting on Las Vegas, Scott B. will be reporting on Tampa and John will be reporting on Orlando and Jeckyll Island. There was no pitching match because the meeting was at John's.

6/8/99:  Course handicaps were calculated using the USGA's Handicap Calculator.   You will find your handicap for the 1999 Challenge on the Handicaps Page.   August 28-29 was selected as the dates for the 1999 Club Championship.   Mark your calendar.   Due to the heat and humidity, the pitching match was cancelled.

6/1/99:  Tree Links was reconfirmed as the site for the 1999 Challenge.   The tournament will be held on June 26th; mark your calendar.   Monday's round at Deer Creek was reviewed (congratulations to Base for his 79) and Deer Creek was confirmed as the site of the 1999 Summer Heat.   The date is still up in the air.   Vince took the pitching match 4 to 10 and 11 over Tom and Jeff respectively.

5/25/99:  Tuesday's meeting, despite weak attendance, was quite productive.   Tree Links was selected for the Challenge, an 18 hole pitching match was contested, websites were reviewed, and other pivotal stuff. Next week's meeting is also on Tuesday; mark your calendar.
