Vince Meets The Tree Challenge
Predicted by some, but dismissed by many, Vince kept the pelota between Tree Links' trees with a net 3 under on the hilly back nine to win the 2002 Challenge. It was his first win since the 1999 Club Championship. While the cotton flew like snow and coated several greens white, the weather was a balmy mid-80s and the day was generally perfect. The winning 93 tied for low gross and Vince would have won the event even if his Course Handicap was a respectable 17.

| After a one year absence on the CMGC Tour, the Challenge returns to Tree Links this Saturday (June 8th) as a single day tournament. Tree Links is the site of one notable Club Record and the course may be penal enough to appear only in a rotation for this event. Tom won the 2000 Challenge with a net even par 73 and judging from the club's performance at last month's Lobsterfest, that score should take the title again this year. While a few CMGC members will be fulfilling other obligations, the field is expected to be nearly full.

The tee times for this year's Challenge are 8:10 and 8:19. The tips at Tree Links measure a respectable 6417 yards, but the course plays much longer due to the dense, tight woods lining nearly every fairway. Given the short drive to Bellefontaine is the same direction from Columbus for nearly everyone, we will be meeting at the McDonald's in Dublin off Rt. 161 at 7:00 am to eat breakfast burritos, talk golf, and carpool to the course. See you there.
