Lesson 6:
Adjectives

Form of Adjectives

Endings

Usually adjectives end in -a. An adjective may precede or follow the noun which it modifies. An adjective may stand in the place of a noun; when the adjective stands in the place of a plural noun, then the final -a is changed to an -i.

Blanka hundi, ed nigra kavali. La blanka. La blanki, ed la nigri.

White dogs and black horses. The white one. The whites and the blacks.

Comparisons

The words plu ... kam mean "more ... than", min ... kam mean "less ... than", tam ... kam mean "as ... as", ne tam ... kam mean "not as ... as", maxim ... de mean "most ... of", and minim ... de mean "least ... of".

Mea okuli esas tam blua kam vui. El esas maxim bona de ni. Hundi esas min inteligenta kam kati.

My eyes are as blue as yours. She is the best of us. Dogs are less intelligent than cats.
