WORKS IN PROGRESS:

The Lost Art of Tea Tossing is a theatrical release and 2-part series
focusing on the influence of special interest money on democracy and
the resulting impact on the lives of ordinary people. The
documentaries feature a cast of engaging characters and a river of
moving images, animations and graphics which examine many different
perspectives on this issue.

 

SELECTED CREDITS:

Farming the Seas, the sequel to Empty Oceans, Empty Nets, is a one-
hour documentary exploring the problems and potentials of raising
various species of fish and shellfish. Can marine aquaculture take
pressure off the oceans, or does it result in a net loss of marine
resources? The Habitat crew travels around the world to document new
endeavors to meet the ever-growing demand for seafood.

The Seafood Story is a 15-minute educational resource video for use
in marine aquaria and schools. The film provides and overview of the
global fisheries crisis and an introduction to new initiatives that
give consumers and citizens a powerful vote on how oceans are fished.

Empty Oceans, Empty Nets: the first program in a series of two 60-
minute television documentaries that examine the global marine
fisheries crisis and efforts to implement sustainable fishing
practices. KQED is the presenting PBS station for Program One of the
series, and the series will be broadcast nationally by PBS member
stations and distributed internationally to television markets in
Europe, Canada, Asia and Latin America.

Ancient Mariners, The Sea Turtle Story: a 60-minute television
documentary co-produced with EarthViews Productions acquired by
National Geographic Television in 1999. The film explores the natural
history and conservation issues associated with endangered sea
turtles worldwide. This documentary is being distributed
internationally for television broadcast by Hit Wildlife of London
(UK).

Ancient Sea Turtles, Stranded in a Modern World: a 30-minute
television documentary that examines the use of Turtle Excluder
Devices and explores the World Trade Organization's challenge to a
U.S. embargo of imported shrimp caught without TEDs. 1999 CINE Golden
Eagle; Bronze Apple and Merit Awards for Educational Value and
Balanced Treatment of Controversial Issues, National Educational Film
Festival; finalist award at the 1998 International Wildlife Film
Festival.

TEDs, Fishing Technology for the 90s: produced in collaboration with
the United Nations Environment Programme and Earth Island Institute.
The film examines the use of Turtle Excluder Devices (TEDs) by the
international shrimp trawling industry. The film is being distributed
in at least fifty-five countries by the UNEP-affiliated Television
Trust For The Environment. Best Educational Film at the International
Wildlife Film Festival, 1996.

Ancient Sea Turtles, The Last Voyage: a 25-minute educational film
distributed by the Video Project. The film examines the natural
history of sea turtles and global efforts to save them from
extinction. Rated 4 stars by the Video Rating Guide for Libraries.

Earth Command: an interactive CD-ROM title addressing global
environmental, trade and economic issues. Produced with Visionary
Media Inc. The user allocates funding, enacts green tax laws, adjusts
World Bank loan policies, world trade policies and other variables to
avoid a "global systems crash." CNN, the United Nations and many NGOs
contributed hours of film and video for this program.
