Steve Cowan - Director, Producer
Since founding the production group in 1992 Steve has overseen the production of several award-winning films including two prime-time PBS Specials, Empty Oceans Empty Nets and Farming the Seas. As the Executive Director of Habitat Media he is actively involved in all of our organizational operations.
Barry Schienberg - Cinematographer, Co-Producer
Awarded as both cameraman and editor, Barry Schienberg has produced corporate, educational and broadcast television programs for over 25 years. His broadcast work has been viewed on The Discovery Channel, PBS, A&E, CNN, Fox, and MTV. In addition to co-producing, directing cinematography and overseeing on-line edits for Habitat Media, Barry has worked as Director of Photography and Producer on Harvest of Sorrow, Ancient Sea Turtles: Stranded in a Modern World, and Pity the Pilot Whale. Barry directs photography, is our principal camera and on-line editor and helps with script development.
Nicole O'Connor - Director of Development
An award-winning producer of commercial television programs, Nicole assists with all phases of our documentary production and oversees development, promotion and communications.
Julie Yoon - Associate Producer
A key member of our production team for Empty Oceans Empty Nets and Farming the Seas, Julie oversees office administration, production and research coordination. She is also part of our editorial design team and helps with logistical planning for all phases of production.
Gabby Francis - Associate Producer
Multitasking extraordinaire, Gabby assists with production, research, writing, field work, and heads up Habitat Media North. A firm believer in the necessity of sustainable living, she relishes the opportunity to translate her convictions into action through independent media. As a self-confessed news junky, she is always on the look out for our next big story.
Byron Palmer - Associate Producer
Byron is a Bay Area native and an ardent farmers market shopping, non-fiction reading, public transportation taking (when he can) minstrel. His work at Habitat media is centered around the production of The Lost Art of Tea Tossing and its story line dealing with the agricultural sector. He is an Aries and likes ice cream. Oh and movie theater popcorn too.
