9/13/01 - A new poem/prayer for our nation:

Troubled Times

Father, we thank You in the midst of our grief
For being among us, giving comfort and relief.
As we help one another we see Your love shining through,
And in times of trouble we still look to You.
We are still one nation under God;
In troubled times we turn our eyes to You.
But the proof of our hearts is when trouble departs;
Then what do we do?
Do we still look to You?
Show forth Your glory by healing our land.
Out of many different backgrounds united we stand
And humbly implore You that You would lead us through,
And when troubled times are over may our hearts still turn to you.

Prayer by St. Francis of Assisi

Lord make me an instrument of Thy peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love,
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life

A glow on a distant horizon,
A glimmer I see from afar,
A shimmer that grows on the edge of my tears,
Sometimes it seems, Lord, that's all that you are.

But my heart would grow closer to you,
My heart would believe what is true;
Lord, work in my mind
And help me to find
Your right way in all that I do;
I want to grow closeer to you.

"Walk With Me"

Sometimes I stumble, sometimes I fall.
You know my weakness, Lord, You know it all.
How can I stand up in answer to your call?
Serving You is where I want to be . . .

And from Your throne in heaven You're reaching out to me
And Your still small voice is whispering, "walk with Me."

Lord, You've sanctified me, set apart to do Your will.
You've given me my heart's desires, and those desires You fill.
When I am weak, then You are strong, and I have strength to stand.
I know that I won't falter when I trust in Your strong hand.

I am Your child now, You've saved my soul.
You've made me righteous, You've made me whole.
You are the power, Lord, You are the goal.
In the light of Your presence is where I want to be . . .
From Your throne in heaven You're reaching out to me,
And Your still small voice still whispers, "walk with Me."
