The whole thing may seem a little overwhelming in the begining, but things soon start to run quite smoothly. It really is a lot easier than it seems. After the initial awkwardness, it now takes me just as long to feed Xator as it did when he was on the old 'right out of the bag' stuff.
Storage
Shortly after I started BARF, I made a small investment and got Xator a fridge. [His food and our food just didn't all fit in one.] I divide Xator's meals into daily portions and store them in freezer bags. I keep his veggie slop frozen in ice cube trays. [He gets about 4 cubes a day.]
Update: I moved into a one bedroom apartment in May of '03. No space for Xator's fridge, but we're managing just fine. The only drawback it that I can't buy as much as I used to at a time.
Serving
Xator's fridge has two shelves. I keep one plastic container on the top shelf and another on the bottom. Each container holds a freezer bag filled with his food for the day. Every evening at feeding time I empty out the top container's contents to feed Xator, and replace it with the contents of the one on the bottom shelf. I then refill that container with more food from the freezer. I feed Xator on a plastic floor mat or towel, since he has a habbit of picking each RMB out of his bowl before eating.
Update: Since we're sharing a fridge now, I reserved a veggie drawer for thawing. Just put a few days worth of bags, and feed them as they thaw.
