UNIVERSITY BUDGETS

Tuition, books, and supplies may be your biggest university expenses, but there are many other costs involved. 

The cost of accommodation will also be a major expenses. In most cases it ends up being cheaper to live in residence than off-campus. 
 

OFF-CAMPUS LIVING

When renting an apartment or house, try to get a couple of people to rent the place with you - this will lower each person's share of the costs. Make sure your room mates co-sign the lease and contribute to the deposit. 

When signing a lease you will be required to hand over the payment for the first and last month. You must also budget for extra utility costs such as water, electricity, telephone, gas, and cable. These utilities often have a one-time installation fee as well. 

Keep all your receipts for your moving expenses. You may be able to deduct them from your income tax.
