But seriously: This page came into existence because I (Mike D. Thornhill, webmaster) decided that if I was going to have "News Webmaster" as part of my work title, I ought to be able to do more than type text into Dreamweaver. Plus, with the state of the big corporations' take on the economy, there was no promise that I wouldn't at some point be cast out to look for another job; so I ought to have as many marketable skills as possible.

So I went out, bought Liz Castro's HTML 4 for the World Wide Web, and began to add to my limited knowledge of HTML. This website is my on-line science project, by which I'm testing what I'm learning. It's not designed (at this point) to be some great example of what a website should look like. Instead, it's a tool - a blank canvas, a pile of clay, a fresh sheet of notebook paper, an unleavened mixture of flour and water, an empty racquet frame and a roll of string, if you will - with which I'm experimenting, which means some things may be done in a non-W3C way while I'm learning.

All that said, please feel free to offer feedback on the site through the "contact" link on the menu. I'm open to comments, suggestions, criticisms (preferably of the constructive type, but beggars can't be choosers), wit and witticisms.
