Roleplaying Page
If you're not familiar with roleplay games, there are many resources out there to explain them to you. Infoseek is my search engine of choice, particularly since they have "Quickseek", a search bar that can be added to your browser.
White Wolf Files
I did not write these files. I only received them as a member of wod-l and gm-l mailing lists. As such, I cannot guarantee them for their accuracy (I don't own all the books myself). They're all fairly 'dated' now, since they were offered sometime just before the First Edition Changeling Players Guide came out. While Vampire and most Werewolf files should be Second Edition, the Wraith, and Changeling will be First Edition and I THINK the Mage will be a mix of both.
The World of Darkness, Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Mage: The Ascension, Wraith: The Oblivion, and Changeling: The Dreaming, and all their associated systems, concepts, and terminology are all copyrighted by White Wolf Game studios. These files are meant as references, they do not replace ownership of the actual rule books.
- 68.8 k size. skills.txt A list of attributes and abilities (both primaries and secondaries) and their descriptions for all 5 games. Secondary abilities are missing Changeling secondaries, all others seem to be included, including vampire-clan specific, werewolf-tribe specific, mortal-hunter specific, etc.
- 53.6 k size. merf.txt A list of merits/flaws and their descriptions for four of the 5 games (again, Changeling not included). Other group-specific merits and flaws (clan/tribe) are included.
- 17.6 k size. backs.txt A list of backgrounds and their descriptions for all 5 games.
- 20.3 k size. freak.txt The Freak Legions merits/flaws to create Fomori
- 19 k size. clans.txt 'wod clan' A list of vampire clans, includes bloodlines from many sources.
- 4.7 k size. guilds.txt 'wod guild' A list of wraith guilds. Appears to only be from main rulebook, or possibly rulebook and Player's Guide?
- 11.5 k size. kith.txt A list of Changeling seemings, main rulebook information only.
- 21 k size. arts.txt A list of Changeling arts by level, main rulebook only.
- 59 k size. discip.txt A list of vampire disciplines. Includes levels 1-10 (or highest known level) and their effects. Includes clanbook 6+ levels (original Camarilla clanbooks only)
- 9.5 k size. sphere.txt A short list of mage spheres by level 1-5 and the effects produced. Personally, I think the pages in Hidden Lore are better, but, these did come with the other files. I haven't checked if they're First or Second Edition.
- 205 k size. unholy.txt A complete reference (from all possible WoD supported sources at the time of writing) background setup in the United State's 'New England' area. Includes plot ideas/character names and basic info/historical and recent political and social elements (no stats or sourcebook information). This is not an 'adventure' or 'module', more like a 'areabook' for the region.
Mage: The Ascension Storyteller Aids
I began my own personal Mage Chronicle set in the 'fictional' Long Island resort community of North Hampton, New York, in July of '97. As I come up with 'helper' files and reference information that may prove to be of use to other Storytellers, I will link them to this area.
- Theme Handout for Mage: This ASCII text file explains the theme and background of the game, without getting into system mechanics. I provided it as a reference for my group, since none were previous Mage players.
Also, there are some other pages that are an invaluable source of information to any Mage player or Storyteller.
Long Island Gaming
Long Island is right outside NYC (in fact, we actually contain two of the burroughs within Long Island geography). That means we have a literal gaming Mecca within our back yard. One group to take advantage of that is: Long Island Area Gamers. Email mjg@io.com if you are a local gamer looking to find a new group or expand an existing group. All types of roleplaying and card gaming are supported.
AD&D
Advanced Dungeons and Dragons is still near and dear to my heart, even though I haven't played since early 1998 at this point. It is published by TSR, which was bought by Wizards of the Coast (the same people who produce some of the collectible card games I like).
When I first started roleplaying (back in '82), TSR was the only strong publisher around, and each year was an explosion of new games and new systems. These days, there are several smaller companies all producing quality games, and the "Big Boys" are trying to compete by simply buying them to aquire each set of loyal customer bases.
But, despite the evil that is Big Business, I still pay homage to the company that introduced me to gaming, TSR, and their flagship product, AD&D...
- The Great Net Book Archive - the top web source of programs, supplements, and extras produced by the players themselves!
- Olik's Pages - the main archive for the wealth of Netbooks out there, among other fine resources.
- The Roleplayer's Companion - an organizer/database program that allows you to track campaigns and characters through your computer. Laptop GMing, anyone?
- The Great RPG Archive - similar to, but, better than, a web ring or search engine. This site links together about 1900 sites, and allows you to interact with them in different ways.
