This page contains information about custom class creation and notes from the classes I have created.
Here are the general sections within this page; you can click on them or just scroll down. After each section is a "To Top" button to bring you back up here.
The ability to create a custom class for your character is unbelievably great! You can take advantage of those characteristics that you like best, and ignore the others. For example, I have never gotten very good at the bow, so I created a class that has "cannot equip bow" as a "disadvantage;" now I have a reason to ignore the bows!
Some of the other "advantages" and "disadvantages" are very good; many web sites talk about them (such as DaggerWeb). I want to relate my experiences with the class I created that I just love.
The advantages I chose were "absorbs magic" and "spell points 3x INT." The disadvantages were "cannot equip Kite shield" (I tend to not use the shields), "cannot equip Bow" (I can't aim worth beans), and "cannot equip short blade." I prefer the WarHammer, then War Axe, then a long blade such as Dai-Katana. These are a little heavier than others, but do more damage. They also have more magic potential; good when you can create your own magic items.
To increase my spell-casting attributes, I created six spells, each with the "area at a distance" effect, with one in each School of Magic. Just before sleeping, I can cast them at a wall multiple times (the number of times cast matters, not the points used), and I automatically absorb the points back. After sleeping for a few hours (six, I think), those attributes go up!
Also, when being attacked by a monster, I can cast the spell between us. He takes damage, gets blasted back, and I absorb the spell points back, to blast him with again! I have to be careful of where to cast; if too close to him, he gets blasted behind me! Can you say, "Backstab?"
When I use a magic item with an area effect, I can absorb the spell points. However, this is tricky, since I don't always make a "save versus magic," and thus can take damage from the spell. But if I am low on magic, this can fill me up.
There are other class advantages and disadvantages I have not tried but want to; look on other people's web pages to find out what kind of classes they created, and what is good and bad about them.
