STAR TREKSTAR TREK

Ships and Best Loadouts

Page 1

PURPLE BAR

Privateer 2 is basically a combat shooter. You can not get anywhere without a ship. At the start, the only ship you can purchase is the STRAITH, which is surprisingly a well balanced ship (especially for the price you pay for it, 10,000 credits). On this page you will find information on:

  1. The ships you can acquire.
Page 2 contains information on:
  1. Enemy ships and which clans usually fly them. Goto page 2.
  2. Military/CIS ships. Goto page 2
  3. Cargo Ships. Goto page 2

Below is a list of the all the ships you can purchase in the Privateer 2 Universe.

Note:None of these ships are available on Terrel. Also no ships are available on Commodity, Repair, and Equipment stations or pirate bases.
Note:Under most situations I recommend loading ships with Python and Proximity missiles (The proximity missile is not available early in the game).
HERETIC

RED BAR

Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
STRAITH 10000 288 36 45 3 poor poor 2 2 2

The Straith is the first ship you will own, and chances are you will use this ship for a while. It is best to load this ship with two lasers, and the afterburner Mk I module. Depending on how much you want to spend re-fitting this ship, the other module mount is up to you (Don't waste your credits on modules like signal filters and decoys. You don't need them in the early stages of the game). You should, however, save your money for the Shaman. This ship is available at all planets and stations except: Destinas, Massanas,Petra, and Serca.

RED BAR

Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
SHAMAN 17000 320 48 50 4 poor good 2 4 4

The Shaman is one of the best upgrades you can make early in the game. Forget that it looks funny, this ship has better shields than the Straith, and has more module and missile mounts. Loading Volt lasers or Flux beams is a good idea on this ship (You still should avoid decoys and signal filters). This ship is available on Anhur, Bex, Crius, Hades, Hermes, Janus, and Karatikus.

RED BAR
Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
VELACIA 20000 320 54 50 3 good poor 2 3 3

You should definetly avoid purchasing the Velacia. Compare the statistics between this ship and the Shaman. Throw in the price and you can see why you should wait for a better ship. If you do buy this ship load it with basically the same weapons and modules as the Shaman (remember:you have one less module mount than the lower priced Shaman). This ship is available on Anhur, Crius, Hephaestus , Hermes, Janus, Karatikus, Athos, Desolia, and Ostinia.

RED BAR

Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
AURORA 34000 320 60 65 3 poor good 2 4 4

Here is another ship I would recommend skipping. Its shields and armour are the same as the Shaman. So is its speed and number of guns, missiles, and module mounts, but it costs 34,000 credits. The Volt laser and Flux beams are good weapons for this ship. If you can and want to, loading a Nuke or Decoys is a good idea. also upgrading shields, and coolant enhancers is recommended. You should have credits left for the cheaper repair droid. This ship is available on Anhur, Bex, Crius, Hades, Hephaestus, Hermes, and Janus.

RED BAR

Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
JENDEVI 45000 279 57 75 4 good good 3 4 4

The Jendevi is the slowest ship you can purchase. For that reason alone I would not buy this ship, and wait for the Duress. If speed doesn't bother you, then this ship is definetly a good upgrade. It has better armour than the Aurora and the Shaman, and has better shields than the Velacia. It is also the cheapest ship to have more then 2 gun mounts(3). This ship should be loaded with 2 Flux beams or 2 Volt lasers and 1 Stream laser Mk II or perhaps if you can afford it a Mass Ion cannon. You should definetly have a repair droid. An afterburner upgrade would also help. This ship is available on Anhur, Bex, Crius, Hephaestus, Hermes, and Janus.

RED BAR

Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
DURESS 60000 379 60 80 5 poor good 2 6 4

The Duress is a fast ship. It also has good agility and an impressive 6 missile mounts. On the down side, this ship has only 2 gun mounts, and has poor armour. Loadout should include 2 Stream laser Mk IIs or 2 Flux beam Mk IIs. If you have the credits and a poor gun coolant, at least one Mass ion cannon is good. You also should have enough credits to upgrade the shield enhancers. Decoys would be a nice add-on as well. This ship is available everywhere except Hades.

RED BAR

Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
KARNEMAN 70000 359 60 65 4 good poor 4 5 5

The cheapest ship to contain 5 module mounts, and 4 gun mounts. The Karnenan is a good upgrade. Privateers may turn away, however, because of the shields and agility. The Duress has a better turn rate and max speed. If credits are abundant, 2 Mass Ion cannons coupled with 2 Stream laser Mk IIs, is recommended. If you are a long range marksman with guns, 4 Stream laser Mk IIs would be better. This ship is available on Anhur, Hades, Hephaestus, Hermes, Janus, and Karatikus.

SKECIS Mk II 80000 359 60 65 4 good good 2 5 4

The Skecis Mk II is the second in the Skecis line, but is cheaper then the original. It also has better shields, and better acceleration. It only has 4 module mounts, and its agility is only average. It is close to the Jendevi, but with a higher max speed. With only 3 gun mounts most privateers avoid this model and wait for the Drakkar. The 3 gun mounts should be loaded with Mass Ion cannons on this ship. Anhur, Bex, Hades, Hephaestus, Hermes, Janus, and Karatikus all have the Skecis Mk II.
RED BAR

Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
SKECIS 85000 359 54 70 5 good poor 4 4 5

The Skecis is more expensive then its predecessor, but has weaker shields, and slower acceleration. It does, however, have one more gun mount, and better agility. Take your pick when choosing which Skecis model to buy. Personally I would skip both and purchase the Drakkar. If you have a good coolant on your ship, I recommend putting 4 Stream laser Mk IIs or 4 Flux beam Mk IIs on this ship. With the extra module mount, add a nuke or mines. This ship is available on Bex, Crius, Hades, Hephaestus, Hermes, Janus, and Karatikus.

RED BAR

Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
DRAKKAR 90000 400 72 80 4 poor good 4 5 5

This is my favorite ship. Still under 100,000 credits, the Drakkar is fast (one of only 6 ships that have a max speed of over 400KPS that you can buy). Its acceleration and turn rate is very good, and has 5 missile and module mounts. The only drawback this craft has is its weak shields. I would definetly load this ship with either 4 Stream laser Mk IIs or 4 Mass Ion cannons. If you want to load 4 flux beam Mk IIs make sure you have the best gun coolant, the Mk IV. The Drakkar is the best fighter craft for the money in Privateer 2. This ship is available everywhere except Anhur and Hades.

Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
HERETIC 100000 428 60 65 4 good good 4 6 5

For 10,000 credits more, the Heretic will give you one more missile mount, better armour, and a little more speed. If you have the money, this ship is better than the Drakkar. With the extra missile mount, you should think about adding some torpedos. The Hellraiser is the best, but expensive (1,000 credits). Like the Drakkar, I would load this ship up with Stream laser Mk IIs or Mass Ion cannons. Hopefully by now you have upgraded you repair droid, and have purchased high end shield, coolant, and afterburner enhancers. This ship is available everywhere except Bex, Crius, and Karatikus.

RED BAR

Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
ICARUS 105000 411 60 65 4 good good 4 6 5

The best way to describe this ship is: What a rip-off!!! DO NOT BUY THIS SHIP. It is 5,000 more credits then the Heretic, and the only difference is that the Icarus is slower. If you do decide to purchase this ship (maybe because it looks better then the nose plier resembling Heretic), load it out with the same equipment as you would the Drakkar and the Heretic.

RED BAR

Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
KALRECHI 110000 359 60 75 4 good good 4 4 6

The Kalrechi is the lowest priced fighter to have 6 module mounts. That's a lot of room for equipment. Besides that, however, this ship is basically the same as the previous three except that it is slow ( only 359 max KPS). All of your enhancers should be at max by now. At this point, whatever weapons you are comfortable with should be what you load on this ship. Be careful not to mix long range and short range guns together, unless you are a up close-only combatant. Definetly have decoys and torpedos loaded on, and perhaps a warp shield would go nice on that 6th mount. This ship is available on Anhur, Crius, Hephaestus, Hermes, Janus, and Karatikus.

RED BAR

Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
FALDARI Mk II 125000 359 66 90 5 good good 4 6 6

With two more missile mounts than the Kalrechi, the Faldari Mk II is a good step up. It's turn rate and agility is one of the best of all fighters. It is the cheapest ship to boast both 6 missile mounts and 6 module mounts. Load this ship out with 4 Mass Ion cannons, if you can afford it. This ship is available everywhere except Hephaestus.

RED BAR

Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
FALDARI 160000 359 60 80 5 good good 5 6 6

The original Faldari has one more gun mount, which is important. But the Faldari is 35,000 credits more than the Mk II version. Add the fact that the original is less manuverable, I would stay with the Mk II version (35,000 credits will buy you 3 Mass Ion cannons). This ship should be loaded with the best equipment credits can buy. This ship is available everywhere except on Bex.

RED BAR

Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
FREIJ 180000 400 66 75 5 good great 4 7 7

The Freij is one of the best fighters in Privateer 2. With 7 missile and module mounts, this ship can create mass destruction on many hostile forces. The one big drawback that keeps many a privateer from buying this craft is the fact that it has only 4 gun mounts. A ship of this caliber and price should have 5 gun mounts like the Mk II model and the Danrik. With that extra module mount, you can pick and chose what you want on this ship for equipment. Only the best should be mounted on fighters of this kind. This ship is available everywhere except Anhur and Serca.

RED BAR

Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
Freij Mk II 200000 440 72 95 5 good great 5 7 7

This is one of the two bad boys in Privateer 2. This is the second most powerful fighter in the game. Look at the statistics. 440 KPS top speed, 5 gun mounts, 7 missile and module mounts. Also, this craft can turn on a dime. Don't buy this fighter until you have enough credits to compliment it with the best loadout possible. Unfortunantly, this fighter is not available until you read the news bulletin " Civilian version of the Freij Craft released." When available to the public this ship can be found everywhere except Bex, Hades, Massanas, and Serca.

RED BAR

Ship Cost Speed Acceleration Turn Rate Ability Armour Shields Gun Mounts Missile Mounts Module Mounts
DANRIK 250000 440 66 100 5 good great 5 7 7

This is the ship everyone wants, the cream of the crop. The Danrik does not have a weakness, period. This ship should be loaded out with either 5 Mass Ion cannons or 5 Stream laser Mk IIs. Imagine 5 Kraven Mk IVs on this fighter. This ship is available everywhere except Anhur, and Hades.
