New to the Privateer series is the ability to hire wingmen(women). I have found that most wingmen in this game are good only for drawing enemy fire away from you. In other words, as far as being good pilots these mercs for hire are just the opposite. I have had wingmen actually bail out on me when the fighting got tough. There are a few exceptions. Some pilots can engage in combat pretty well. These go-hardies are worth hiring for missions that pay well for success, and have alot of enemies to kill. Below is a table of all(I think)wingmen in Privateer 2. Their names, what they charge per contract , and the ship they fly are presented.

When you hit the "hire" icon, that wingman will be with you until you land.
