Insects are on the menu all round the world, except in Europe
where we're nauseated by the idea of dragonfly kebabs or woodlouse
sauce. Of course we actually eat insects all the time without
realising it!
The government has a load of stats on permissable levels of insect
infestation in foodstuffs.
Do you suppose manufacturers throw away all the fruit and veg
with a little hole in them? Of course not. They just get pulped.
So

Banana
Worm Bread
What is it? Tea loaf, made with mashed banana to keep it
moist and crushed dry-roasted mealy worms for texture. Serve sliced
and buttered.
How hard do you have to be to eat this? Not very. My grannie
wouldn't blink an eyelid.

Stir Fry
What is it? A vegetable base containing onion, yellow and
green peppers, skinned and chopped plum tomatoes sautéed in olive
oil, combined with soft-fried mealworms, ginger, garlic and fresh
coriander leaves, garnished with a sprinkling of dry-roasted giant
ants.
How hard do you have to be to eat this? As hard as a concrete
enema.

Beetle Samosas
What is it? A mixture of boiled, diced potato, peas and
black crickets, spiced with cayenne pepper, turmeric and cumin,
wrapped in filo pastry and deep fried in oil or baked in the oven.
How hard do you have to be to eat this? Positively Glaswegian.
The legs get stuck in your teeth.
