SWSC is definitely growing! The first Wing, named Alpha Wing, led by coneboy.

Shadow and Avavile are promoted to Admiral for Manpower and Admiral for Intelligence respectively. Congratulation to them! Also, the following pilots are also promoted to hold the appointment of Squadron Commander. They are zero, Paranoia, Dragon and TusKayla

Admist the chaos of the fighting, a pirate squadron was detected within the sector monitored by SWSC. It was later identified as the CSM Squadron led by\ MrSnow. They have no regards for the rules and obligation drafted by SWSC. As such, SWSC pilots should be wary of them.

Press Here for these changes!

All Squad Commanders: Please read Notes To Squadron Commander for a description of your responsibilities and obligation. Please note that a squad homepage is compulsory and should be up by next wednesday (30 July 1997).

Inactive !: For those of you who had seen the member list will noticed that some pilots are labelled 'inactive'. They had failed to respond to their Squad Commander's verification and had not involved themselves in the activity. They are eventually classified as such when no valid reasons were given. These pilots must re-activate their status by notifying EC.

Attention all SWSC pilots. I am quite busy this few weeks and is not able to update your particulars as often as I would like to be. In regard to posting, I would complete that by this Thursday. Any matters in regard to ranking and battles, please contact your Squad Commander. Thank you.

Welcome Jam, Jezza and jrj.

As you know, SWSC is growing at a phenomenol speed and we have more than 20 members now, thanks to everyone's effort. However, the number of pilots applying for the post of Squad Commander is not many and we are now in dire need of Squad Commanders! As SC, you will be incharge of 3 other pilots and also to look after their welfare, thus monitoring their PRVs. You will have the power to promote them and organinse your own squad meetings. To learn more about what you have to do, Read This!

However, you do need to maintain a squad homepage, meaning that you need to know some (not too much) HTML (it's not hard to learn). Check out Dagobah Squadron and Knight Squadron. You will realise that it's not that hard!

Welcome to GOLiATH from Vic, AU. A note to pilot NMR, please re-fill the Registration Form and do fill in all the details. It is important that we get all the relevant information.

League Meeting on 20 July 97 was a big success, about 75 % of our pilots presented themselves!!! Congratulation to everybody for making this a success. I'm now thinking of organising at least one official league level meeting a month. Squadron Commanders may organise your own squad level meeting at your own convenient time. Don't forget, you will earn RPs by attending these meetings. However, please put up your notices in the Pilot Lounge to gain the Official status for your squad meetings and to inform other SWSC pilots as well. For all pilots who attended the meeting yesterday, do note that you'd earned 500 RPs (see Ranking Chart).

Reporting Battles: All pilots who had fought in the battle at yesterday's meeting, please update your pilot log and email your Squad Commander your battle result (see here for the Reporting Format).

Executive Council Appointment: Avavile and Shadow are accepted as Eagle Pilots. They had demonstrated their enthusiasm and desire to assist in the running of SWSC. As Eagle Pilots, their input to the organisation would be valuable and would be assessed. The final acceptance into SWSC Executive Council will depend on their contribution. Congratulations to Avavile and Shadow!

41st Squadron: Please mail EC your battle report from yesterday's meeting. The SC position in 41st Squad is vacant now and EC would like to invite squad's pilot or any other SWSC pilots to apply. Please indicate your nickname, nickname and the position that you would wish to apply (ie. 41st Squad Commander) in your E-mail.

coneboy created quite a good page to keep track of his squad's member's PRVs. Check it out!

Shadow had also created quite an excellent page to keep track of his squad's member's PRVs. Check it out!

Shadow note: EC could not find pilot Jam's application form, is his nickname Jam when he submit his application form?

20 July 1997
Welcome zero from NSW, Grim Reaper and Wolf from SA!

I had inculded a page for new pilots, and there's a few reminders for everyone... so do take a look, especially about putting a prefix of 'swsc_' in front of your log-in name in The Gaming Zone.

I would like to thank coneboy for his contribution to The Victory Day discussion. He has a few ideas that are quite interesting! So all members should take a look.

Something to think about: Should we categorise SWSC pilots into Imperial and Rebel forces? This means that pilots can fly only the fighters from one side. What are your thoughts? To know what others think, visit Pilot's Lounge.

Attention all Squadron Commanders: Please arrange for Ranking Exercises to rank your pilots. At the moment they are given a Field Officer (FO) rank. Please consult the Promotion Guidelines and notify EC of their rank by 24 Jul 97 (Thurs). This must be done by then, and no excuses will be accepted!

I'm trying out a new chat room, check it out and let me know what you think.

The Ranking Chart is now updated. The RPs required for SWSC Ranks are revised, so did the RPs awarded for XvT Rank. There might be some problem pertaining to the award system, so if you have any suggestions please let me know.
This award system is devised such that emphasis is put on the level of participation by the pilot, so if you play more and take up more responsibilities, you are awarded with more points. You do not gain as many points if you just play 'solo' by yourself... so to get the most out of the game and be promoted faster.... play with other players more often! Important: RPs are only awarded when you play with fellow SWSC members.

Reporting Battles
Attention all pilots! When you report battle result to your superior, please include the followings:
  1. Nicknames of all SWSC pilots involved in the game.
  2. Nickname of the person reporting and his/her password.
  3. Type (eg., training, melee), Date, winners/lossers and any comments about the battle.
  4. Calculated RPs that are to be assigned to each pilot.
The pilot who submit the report is known as Mission Observer. Field Officers are empowered to report if no Staff Officers are available. If the pilots belong to different squad, the mission observer has to submit the same result to individual Formation Commanders. The Commanders then have to update their own formation homepage. Executive Council will have to informed of any promotion or demotion.
In the near future, I will design a sample form for formation commanders to put on their homepage to standardise the format. However, if you had or going to design one, please let me know, so that I can divert my time to developing other areas.

Formation Homepage
Attention all Squad Commanders! In view of the release of the Ranking Chart and Promotion Guideline, please include the followings in your squad homepage.
For each of your pilot, maintain a record of at least the following,
  1. their particulars, including nickname, sector, XvT and SWSC ranking.
  2. Last battle date.
  3. PRVs and their breakdown of RPs according to Seniority, Skill, Level of Participation, Field Performance and Appointment Points.
  4. Include the details about the battles that the pilot was involved in (in the Field Performance Section) eg, position in a melee, winner/losser in a combat, and also the date of each combat that the pilot fought in.

If you include all the above details, your homepage will be a Grade B homepage!!!
I will put up a sample homepage in the near future but if you had or are going to design one, let me know and maybe I could link you in as a 'sample' page for others to consider.

19 July 1997
Promotion Guideline is out ... after 4 hours of work!!!!! It is termed as Ranking in the navigation bar. Everyone should have a look. The Pilot Ranking Value (PRV) required for more senior SWSC ranks are still to be finalised. If there are any suggestions or complaints, please let me know.
You will notice that there are incentives for squad commanders to maintain their own squad homepages! I am considering introducing squadron homepage as compulsory for each Field Commander. This will help ease the volume of work needed in tracking members' PRVs.
The Pilot Log Book sample will be available next week. This is to enable members to keep track of their RPs and PRVs accurately and with the right and relevant information. By then, each and everyone in the league will have to keep this log.

IMPORTANT: Please do not send your XvT ranking to me anymore. Instead please send them to your SC. From now on, please update EC about pilot's SWSC ranking only. Thus, all Squad Commanders please note that updating your member's details is now your responsibility.

17 July 1997 - A
Sorry, I'm still working on the Promotion Guideline and will be out in this 2 days.

SWSC First General Meeting

It's Here!!! The first SWSC meeting will be held this weekend and all members have to attend. Attendance will be taken by respective Squad Commanders and any letter of excuse should be directed to your Sqaud Commander. All Squad Commander please mail me the list of absentee and their reasons. Absence without valid reasons will cause deduction in their Ranking Points.

Venue: The Zone (Australia)
Time: 2300hrs (Sydney Time)
Game Panel: 20 to 30
Agenda: Getting to know your fellow pilots. Determining your SWSC rank through battle (conducted by respective SC).

17 July 1997
Posting of pilots are finalised. You will note that all Field Officers have the rank written as FO (Field Oficer). The final SWSC rank will be decided by EC with Squadron Commanders in accordance to the Promotion Guideline. This guideline will be released in the next day or two.

For those who had applied for staff officer appointments but unsuccessful, you will be considered in future when promotion occurs. Being active and enthusiastic about the league will definitely give you an edge in the future. Afterall, reliability, enthusiasm and responsible are qualities that we look for when choosing our Field Commanders.

Each squadron is being assigned a number in addition to its name, if it exist. Those squadron that had not been named can do so before notifying me.
41st Squadron does not have a Squadron Commander yet and will not have one until a suitable pilot is found (who should be from WA, AU him/herself). If any of the pilots from 41st Squadron is interested in the job, please email me. It is under the direct command of EC for the time being.

Also, a warm welcome to DocHavok from WA, AU.

16 July 1997
100 Visitors! SWSC had its 100th visitor in the afternoon yesterday! The next aim would be 1000!

Warm welcome to Goober from Western Australia, Avavile from Indonesia and adversary from USA. Take a look at our updated Pilot List.
A newly formed site X-wing vs Tie Fighter Files Zone was formed not long ago, which aims to collect the latest downloads for missions and utilities for XvT. It is quite impressive and definitely worth bookmarking. Take a look and we would probably looking through it for the latest downloads and files in the future.

Squadron Commander Reminder! Please submit your squadron URL and member list (those who has not joined SWSC) to the Executive Council ASAP. Also, please prompt your members to register with SWSC if they had not done so already.

15 July 1997
SWSC is in the process of verifying its members' email address. if you had not received an 'Authentication Letter', it means that the email address given in the application form is not valid. Hence, please e-mail me with your password.

As all of you might know, the background story about SWSC is not that clear. All we know is that many of our predecessors died in their fight and not more than that! Thus, the Executive Council hope to open the topic up and invite all members to put in their thoughts. We hope to reach a concensus by the end of this week. Turn to Victory Day for more information.

Reminders for Squadron Commander.... please prompt your squad members to register with SWSC if they had not done so. Posting should be finalised by the end of this week.

13 July 1997
Pilot Lounge
In an effort to make SWSC pilots feel at home, SWSC has renovated its 'Guestbook' into a Pilot Lounge. All SWSC pilots are welcomed to put up notices about their thoughts, grievances or challenges to fellow pilots. What you put down is updated automatically and you can get a response very fast if you want a battle soon. However, please refrain from rude and obscene languages.
Want to see SWSC's Pilot Lounge?
May the Force be with you.

Yes, the recruiting push by SWSC on 12 Jul 97 was a success! Our Member List has increased to 11 !!!! Now, it is time to do some serious BASHING!!!! Warm welcome to Outlaw17, Espio, Dater, Shreiker, Digger and Paranoia. Our first SWSC meeting will be on the coming weekend... maybe on Saturday night (19 Jul 97).
There are quite a number of pilots who are interested in the post of Squadron Commander but unfortunately, we do not have the number of pilots to fulfill the demandat the moment. All staff officers would have to meet to sort out the matter, maybe via battle or consensus. In any case, as SWSC grow, there will be opportunity in heading your very own squad.

Special Notices to Squad Commander
For those SC who have their own squad, please submit to EC your squad name, URL (if any) and the number of pilots you have at the moment by the end of this week (before Friday morning). This will enable EC to allocate pilots.
As you know, only 4 pilots are allowed in any squadron. If you want to have a larger formation , please consider applying for higher position, eg, Wing Commander. The reasons for such restriction is to facilitate command and control, and the fact is that only a maximum of 4 pilots are allowed in a game in THE ZONE. Thus, such organisation means that your whole squad can carry out a mission together rather than leaving out someone. This is important when we have combat between squads.
About Squadron Home Page
SWSC EC would like to encourage all Field Commanders to have a homepage for their formation. You can get a free web site from GeoCities or one with your ISP. You can put your formation logo and member list on it. Also it can be a 'noticeboard' for your formation. Com'on, consider it seriously! If you need any help, you know where to find.

11 July 1997
Warm welcome to Wikko from Malaysia. This is a very good sign that we are getting pilots from other galaxies. SWSC is also being listed on Star Wars Gaming News today. SWSC will be more than happy to link other Star Wars sites or XvT sites if you are willing to link us to your page!

9 July 1997
Updated with the SWSC Member List. Also a warm welcome to Dragon from nsw Australia. Posting to respective Squadrons will begin when there are enough pilots.

8 July 1997
Updated with the Organisation of SWSC. Take a look and understand how SWSC is organised into. Also, a big WELCOME to 2 new pilots who'd joined us! coneboy and Keith! Our new pilots will be allocated into the member list soon.

7 July 1997
Establishment of Star Wars Southern Command. We are now recruiting pilots and will be planning our assult in the near future. New recruits will be listed and allocated to their squadron as soon as possible, possibly in the next week or so. If you have what it takes to be a good Squadron Commander, make yourself known! The way that we will be playing the game will be indicated in the next update (via The Rebel HQ or KALI).
