3/5/99

Well, folks, you may have noticed, but I haven't been updating with any regularity as of late. Schoolwork and other obligations have been crowding my time, so I'm just going to throw in the towel, at least for now. From now until summer, don't plan on getting any updates from this site. However, please continue to make use of the Bravenet Forum, and be sure to stop by again in July or August, and possible submit your own articles for me to add (possibly before then, in the files section). Anyway, good by for now, and I hope I see you this summer!

1/27/99

Has it really been three months since my last update? I had no idea that it would be so long. Oh, well, I'm here now, and I've made a couple updates. I added another bit of fan fiction to the files section. It's not too long, so drop by and take a look. I also added Kenneth Ho's document about the various races to the files section. I may at a later time integrate it into the site somehow, but for now this is all I can think of. Download it and read it offline, while family members are hogging the phone line. :-)

Also, it looks like Monolith, provider of the http://orionspalace.home.ml.org URL, has gone under. Until such time as I find a new provider, you'll have to go to http://www.oocities.org/timessquare/lair/5630. Sorry, but there's nothing I can do.

10/30/98

Well, guess who finally got around to updating the page again! (the correct answer is - ME) Yes, that's right- I updated the Hints page with some more tips and observations from Kenneth Ho. There's a link near the top of the Hints page that can take you directly to the new stuff, if you've already read everything else.

I still have a few more tips I need to upload, but I'm not going to be able to do that tonight. In the mean time, how 'bout if you guys let me know what more you want to see on this site? If you have any suggestions, in terms of content, layout, mailing lists, or whatever, just send me an email at _blaze_@oocities.com and give me your opinion! You can also write just to tell me what a great guy I am. :-)

Happy Halloween everybody (who celebrates it, at least)!

10/7/98

Ouch! Has it really been more than a month since I've updated this site? Well, never fear, for I am back again! I put a new graphic on the Races page, a panoramic group shot of all the happy Moo races (the Elerians, Gnolams, and Trilarians are, of course, absent from this shot), courtesy of Bob B. Also, remember to get the v1.3 Patch if you haven't already. Sorry I don't have more additions, but I'm doing this in a hurry.

If you guys have any suggestions, contributions, etc. pertaining to the site, please email me, or, even better, post a msg on the Orion's Palace Web Forum.

On a side note, if any of you guys know of some shareware or freeware MIDI-editing programs, please email me at _blaze_@oocities.com.

9/5/98

I have another contribution up from Kenneth Ho on the Hints page. It's pretty extensive (meaning long), so check it out! Other than that, there's nothing to report (although Ho's tips are more than plentiful enough to keep you busy for a little while). Anyhoo, enjoy your Labor Day weekend, and see you next time!

8/27/98

Hello ya'll! I have a few new things up on the website. The first is that I've uploaded the 1.3 patch for Moo1. You can now download it from my site, if necessary. Second is our first bit of fan fiction, by Kenneth Ho. I encourage you to read it, and submit your own if you'd like. Third is the new MIDI on the page w/Ken's story. Recognize it? It's the battle theme from Moo1, playing in the background for flavor. More Moo1 MIDIs will be added at a later date, as well as some more, strategy-related things from Ken that I think you'll like.

8/15/98

Hello, hello! Bet you guys thought I was never coming back, eh? Sorry about not updating sooner, but it's just been one thing after another.

Now, the stuff you guys want to hear: I finished the ship design page! I just got done publishing Section 3 of Padre's design tips, and I definately recommend that you check them out. Also, note that I didn't write any of this, except to note where he made a mistake (am I a good friend or what?). :-)

Anyway, that's all I have time to do now, unfortunately. However, I'm hoping that I can find the time this week to add some more stuff to the page soon. I've got some more race tips, a bit of fan fiction, new graphics, and some MIDIs straight off the game. So, until next time...

6/17/98

Sorry about not updating this site in awhile. Not only did I have finals and such to contend with, I also ended up taking over control of the Alliance of Free Stars, which has taken up a lot more of my time than I'd like, due to the necessity of moving the site to a new location and making sure that everything works right. Hopefully, I'll be able to get back to updating this site every week or two. For now, you have a whole new section in the Ship Design page to play around with. This section, like the last, was written by my friend Padre; if you like it it's because I told him everything I know about MOO ship designing. If you don't like it, it's because he never listens to me. In any case, I hope you like it. The final section will be up in a few weeks (I'm on vacation the week after next).

5/26/98

Hope you guys enjoyed your Memorial Day weekend, if you do that. I'm here to announce that the Races page is finished! Yes! My next project will be to type up the next section of the Ship Design tips, which I believe includes some sample ship designs.

Now the bad news; with the end of the school year coming up, I have to deal with all those fun things you do at the end of the year (e.g, finals), meaning that it will probably be at least 3 weeks before I can update this page again. I'm also trying to set up the Moo2 multiplayer "ladder" for the Alliance of Free Stars, which will keep me from dedicating a whole lot of time to this page. Don't worry, though; I won't forget to update this page at least once in a while for the duration of the project. :-)

Until next time...

5/9/98

Hello guys (and gals)! Hope you enjoy(ed) Mother's Day, Cinco de Mayo, and whatever else may be happening or has happened this month!

Remember when I said I'd do the Silicoids, and then afterwards I'd start making the Ship Design tips? I lied. I didn't feel like thinking today, and had just spent an hour getting the Java Developement Kit to work on my system, so I said heck with it and put the Ship Design tips up. Only the first (of three) section is up, and it's mostly an intro. But it's something, and after I do the Silicoids I'll get back to typing up the rest of the tips.

4/24/98

Well, guess what folks; we're almost finished with the races section of Orion's Palace! I think that the Silicoids are the only ones not up yet. I should get to that next weekend. So, why am I here, speaking to you now? Well, your favorite Moo web page on the internet (Orion's Palace) just won the Setoff Site of the Day award! Yea! I'd like to take a moment to thank all the people who made this possible. Thanks guys! I'm looking forward to future comments and additions to the site, and I'm sure this first award won't be the last! :-)

4/17/98

Not too much to report; I added the Sakkra tips to the races page, and a friend of mine has written the ship design tips, which I am still in the process of typing (he wrote them on paper). That's it, see you in a week or two!

4/3/98

Sorry guys, but I just have not been able to get this thing updated as often as I'd like to lately. No excuse this time; I mostly wasted away my weekends playing Master of Orion! :-) That brings me to my first point; there is an internet Moo2 league that any online Moo2 players here should join. It allows you to communicate with other Moo2ers, and get in on some games. I myself am the leader of the Meklar race. If you're interested, you should email me at _blaze_@oocities.com.

Now on to business. I've updated the races section to include the Psilon race. I hope that within the month I will be completely finished with the races section, at least as far as having something on all the races there. My friend Padre has already written the ship design section of the page, but unfortunately it was written whenever he had free time (e.g, 2:00am). This means that it is handwritten, and I will be writing it into the computer while translating it into HTML (as a result of Padre not knowing HTML) and English (as a result of this being written at 2:00am). Never fear, I will be posting it by section (there are three sections) at about the same rate that I was supposed to update the races section, assuming I can get it typed up that fast. After that is done, I will be sifting through the rest of my Moo editors (the ones I don't have in the file section) and posting them, probably in June or so. So, now that you know what my plans are, I'm going to go execute them. Adios!

3/10/98

Well, this time it took even longer than last time to update my site. Sorry about that. But I have good reasons: I had my PC seriously goofed up by IE 4.0's install procedure (lost all my system info; drivers, setup, etc.), and I've been setting up my frames page and my new Bravenet message board, which I think is muuch better than my last one, and you simply must come by and post something. Perhaps we can get something started here, and a msg. board is the best way to communicate with me and other MOOers.

As I mentioned above, I have been changing my page to frames, and I finally finished this task today. If you encounter any broken links, this is probably why, although I plan on running a link check before too long. If you tried to use any of the links in the body of the index page recently, you might have noticed they didn't work; I changed all the page names and the links on the bottom of the page, but forgot about these links (doh!). They are currently working fine. Now that I'm done with this, I can get working on the strategy sections on the site.

Speaking of strategy, I've talked to a friend of mine who might be able to do the ship design section, which until now has consisted of a couple advertisements (sorry about that).

In case you haven't noticed, there have been some unfortunate occurances and Loknar, sysop of Sol 3 (another good Moo site), has left the web for a while, and Sol 3 has been demolished. So, if you went by there periodically, don't bother any more, it ain't there.

So, until next time, keep those CDs safely spinning, be sure to show gratitude to your local webmasters (I prefer cash, but a check will do), and I'll see you later! :-)

1/30/98

Geez, has it been that long since I've updated my page? Well, I haven't had much online time (just enough to check e-mail), so I haven't been able to update this site. But I finally got around to adding the Mrrshan to the Races page, so go check it out! If you haven't seen it yet, I've gotten a new guestbook, which you can see by clicking the guestbook link on the new GeoGuide on the top of all my pages.

One more thing; I'm going to try switching to frames finally, possibly this weekend or early next week, but I will still keep a non-frames version. However, I may not update the non-frames version as often, especially since non-frames surfers only constitute abotu 5% of my visitors (about a dozen people a month), so I think that is ok, until people start complaining.

If you haven't yet, make sure that you see my message board (link on index page), and happy Mooing! :-)

1/8/98

First of all, welcome to the new year everybody! As for the web page, I've been a bit busy, and haven't been able to do as much as I'd like to lately. I plan on changing over to a frame-based layout as soon as I find the time. Also, I added the Meklars to the list of races on the Races page. I'd like to keep updating regularly, but my schedule might be tight in the next couple of weeks. So until next time, adios, and may your cows be forever bovine (?). :-)

12/15/97

Hi again! There's not much going on with the site, but much is happening elsewhere. The holidays are upon us; Christmas, Hanukkah, Boxing Day, etc., (and I hope I spelled Hanukkah right). As a result, I don't know how much I'll be able to update my site over the next few weeks. Also, after Christmas, I think I might change to bi-weekly updates. Sorry, but this gives me more time for things besides this News page. Until next time...

12/8/97

I haven't had time for a while to update this page, but I finally added the Klackons to the Races page, so go check it out. I also have a couple cool new MIDIs to upload, which I hope to do eventually. I'm trying to upgrade my PC, so I will be busy again for a while, but hopefully will get to update the site again this weekend. Loknar is still working on the MOO Glossary format, and I will continue with the original MOO section as soon as he sends me a template. In the meantime, I encourage you to post messages on the forums, both the one linked from the main page, and the one at Custom Forums. Until next week, ta-ta!.

11/24/97

Whoa, guess who's back! Sorry I've been gone so long, but I have come with a peace offering: a Master of Orion Message Board ! Go check it out and tell me what you think! I hope to continue adding to the races page, but the Glossary is on hold while Mission Commander Locknar rethinks our strategy. He's the boss on this project, so if you don't like it, blame him! :-) Oh, yeah, and have a happy Thanksgiving!

11/8/97

Sorry I missed a week, but I didn't have enough Internet access, and I've been setting up my new hard drive. Like any knew piece of hardware, it didn't work until about three tech support hours later. :-) I may not do too many updates in the near future, because I won't have time, but I plan on updating at least a little bit; I'll probably do the Klackon section of the Races page before I do anything else.

I haven't gotten very many comments on my page. This is unacceptable. Please, write me and tell you what you think! You can use any of the methods on the Contact page to let me know what you think.

10/25/97

Hey, great news for people who don't know every term's definition in the Master of Orion universe. Locknar and I are creating a glossary of the Master of Orion series, with Locknar doing MOO2 (at Sol 3) and me doing MOO1. If you want to see the MOO2 section, head to Sol 3; if your want to see MOO1, head to the Glossary section. Locknar and I will be working on this for a long time; this is not a week-long project! I still plan to work on the Races section.

If you haven't signed my guestbook yet, make sure you do that.

10/18/97

Hello again! I didn't add much content this week. That's because I've been adding some other Geo+ goodies. I now have a Guestbook and a private answering machine on the Contact page, and an "add-a-link" utility on the Surf page, so that you can communicate with me and submit your own links to me.

The only other thing of note that I did was fix the new MIDI, which should be playing now. If you've been here recently and wondered why it wasn't working, well, it is now, so enjoy it!

10/11/97

I added two sets of tips for the Humans. The first is on the races screen, and follows the same format as the other races. The second is accessable by a link from the Races screen, and was contributed via e-mail. The next race in line is the Klackon empire

I also added a new MIDI file to this page (the News page). It is available for download from the MIDI Files page.

10/5/97

Well, I finally got the Darlocks on the Races page. Next, I'll be doing the Humans, probably this Monday or Tuesday, if I can.

Let me know how you guys like Netmind; I haven't used it myself, and want to make sure it works.

No, I didn't get rid of all the webrings; I moved them to the Surf the Web page.

9/29/97

Well, not much to report this week. Unfortunately, I was unable to add the Darlocks to my site this past week; I hope to do that real soon.

I fixed the MIDI files on the "Index","Files", and "Races" pages, so if you had problems, know that it was my fault, not yours (or your browser's).

I added a few, small things to my main page. First, I added a utility which greets you according to the time and how many times you've been here. It utilizes cookies, so please accept them (if you've set your browser to reject them or alert you). If you reject the "cookies" it will not function correctly. Also, it is a Java utility, so if you're Java-disabled it won't function. For those of you that are "cookie-phobic", you should now that cookies can neither give you viruses nor gather personal information about you. Any marketing using cookies is strictly statistical in nature.

I've also added some fun little "awards" to the bottom of my page. They are completely fictional, and intended for fun only. They all link to the company that makes them, "The Corporation".

And finally (and perhaps, most importantly), I have added a button for "Netmind" to the main page. Clicking on it will take you to a page which will ask you if you want to register such and such page. Say yes (if you want to register, that is). It will send you and e-mail letting you know when I update this page, so that you only have to come when I've made some sort of change.

Until next week, adios!

9/22/97

Well, here it is: the weekly report. I added the Bulrathi last weekend, right after I added the last news post. In a day or two I'll be adding another race (the Darlocks?) to the races section, I hope, and I will also add some "awards" to the main page. They are humerous and ficticious, and I think I'll add a few and change them once and a while; I might also use CGI to show a random one each time. I'm also looking (still) for some fun and/or useful utilities for the site. Check back soon!

9/13/97

I've added four new MIDI files to my web site. You can find them on their respective pages, or on the MIDI Files page. Let me know what you think of them. If you have any good MIDI files that you think go on this site, let me know where I can find them, or e-mail them to me, at _blaze_@GeoCities.com

I'm still working on the rest of the races section, and I hope to finish something soon. The Bulrathi are next on the list, I believe. If you have any tips of your own, let me know via e-mail. I'd love to hear them!

9/7/97

Well, here's this week's update. I'll try to update this page on the weekends (Sat.- Mon.) from now on, so that would be a good time to check back here. You may want to just bookmark this page, so you'll know immediately what's going on around here.

Last Tuesday or Wednesday I put the Alkari tips on the Races page. Let me know if you like it, either by filling out this quick form or just sending an e-mail to me at _blaze_@oocities.com. Assuming no one complains, this will pretty much be the form that page takes. This week and the next, I hope to work on the rest of the races; I don't know exactly how long it will be before I get to the Ship Design page.

Once again, remember to check back frequently for updates to this site!

9/2/97

Sorry I haven't updated in a while; I've been busy, and haven't had time to update. I'm going to try to update this page weekly if I can. Remember, if you have any comments, contact me!

8/23/97

I've added a Java title to my main page. If you don't have a Java-enabled browser, it still looks the same. The Java was made with The Java Machine. I've also added the code for a couple web rings to the main page. I'm not a member yet, but my applications are in queue. Remember to tell me what you think of my page!

8/21/97

I've added a file download page. It features a couple of my favorite editors. Unfortunately, I was unable to include the v1.3 update; if you need it, you'll have to go to Microprose's web page. Also, just to clear up any confusion, there is no multiplayer MOO shell! There is, however, a MP MOM shell (which is probably what caused the confusion). If you would like a copy, write me, and I'll send you one via e-mail attatched file.

Another change I've made is to put MIDI volume controls on all my pages. Now you can adjust the volume of, or even stop completely, the MIDI on all my pages. This way, if you don't share my taste in music, you can turn that infernal junk off! :-)

8/19/97 14:45 (GMT)

I added some tips to the "Hints" page. The new tips are from Lighthouse Keeper. I may expand further on this site if I receive more tips before I finish my own. I may or may not keep the current page once I add the "permanent" sections, but you never know.

I reached 100 hits on 8/15/97! Half those hits were probably me double-checking my page, but I'm still happy.

8/14/97 18:07 (GMT)

I added a MIDI page containing all the new MIDIs on this site. Now, if you hear a MIDI you like you can download it or listen to it orwhatever you want. I also changed the line above the links on every page to the animated variety. I also made my e-mail address a hyperlink on the "Contact" page.

I'm still listening for tips! Not that I don't have my own, mind you; I'm just trying to get as much diversity into my site as possible.

8/11/97 10:34 (GMT)

I think I've finished up my changes to the look of this site. Nothing major; it's still grey/white text with a royal purple backround. Mostly I just added MIDI and the GeoCites logo to the rest of my pages. Until I figure out how to upload files under Explorer, I'll only have one MIDI tune on this site. I also added the "Search," "Races," and "Ship Design" pages, although they don't have much on them yet. The latter two are there just so that I can get my links organized, and I figured that this way you'd know some of what I planned on adding. I will add more than those two pages, but they will be the first. It could be a couple weeks before I write them, though.

Remember to send me any suggestions you have about this page!

8/6/97 2:51 (GMT)

I just added MIDI to the cheats page! Let me know how you like it! If you don't have the right software you probably won't hear it, but I'm not a technician;if you can't hear it, the only advice I can give you is to turn your speakers on, if that doesn't work I can't help you. Try going to the Game Castle through the GeoGuide links.

8/6/97 15:40 (GMT)

Updated several things this morning. I added the "Contact Me" page so it would be easier to send me feedback. Keep those forms coming! I also added a bar above the links at the bottom of the page. I finally got the links on GeoGuide to work, so check them out!

8/4/97 9:15 (GMT)

Added the "Legend..." section to the site. I also changed all the times over to "Greenwich Mean Time". They were in Central US and Canada time, but I thought this would be easier for you to change to your own, local time.

I'm still looking for GIFs of the game, so let me know if you have some!

8/4/97 5:25 (GMT)

I added another section to my site, explaining why I did this site. I also changed the color of the links, so let me know what you think. Thanks to Sleddog and Lady Jestyr for the info! I'm still looking for good graphics for my page, and I will soon start adding some tips of my own to replace the "temporary" hints page.

8/2/97 11:26 (GMT)

As of now, the only semi-complete section is the cheats page. I also have the temporary tips page until I get around to writing my own. My friend Mike wrote them, and I just formatted them in HTML and put them up so people wouldn't completely waste their time. The first page I do will probably be the Orion backstory and game description.

If you have any GIFs or JPGs of races, ships, planets, etc. please let me know!

I have a lot of time, so expect frequent updates. I'd recommend checking back every two or three days. Also, just a reminder: send me any comments or suggestions you have about the page! You can use this form.
