AWARDS, AWARDS, AWARDS

As many of you know, GK3 has recently received much press surrounding our latest demo of the game displayed at E3. We are running neck and neck with Grim Fandango for the best adventure game of '98, and we definately see that as good company to be in! Here's a list of some of the accolades GK3 has received in the past couple weeks:

JANE JENSEN'S E3 RECAP
by Jane Jensen

This year was my first time at E3, and it was a great experience. Most everyone who stopped by seemed to really like the new game interface and 3D art, and the press we've seen implies that they weren't just being nice to me! I had a lot of people come by who were fans of the series and their enthusiasm helped bolster my own motivation to come back and work even harder. For those of you I saw there -- thanks for coming over and showing your support. Of course, we had a handful of fans show up who were mad about the 3D or mad about Gabe's new hair, etc., but once they saw the demo they quickly warmed up -- so I'm counting that as a good sign that those on the boards who are still leery will be won over when they actually see the game.

On the floor, most everything was 3D and there was some incredible 3D animation being done, particularly in the 'cut scenes' or movie intros for other products. Our challenge is to match those kinds of levels of excellence -- but to do it not just in the cut scenes but in the actual game engine itself since our cut scenes and game play will be identical. What was mostly showing at E3 were 1st or 3rd person shooters, so GK3 certainly has an opportunity to be different. We have our work cut out for us to deliver a product that will revitalize adventure game sales, but we also have lots of good will and support from the press and fans and a great game engine, talented artists, etc.

I'm very pleased with the potential that's there and it seems that potential showed on the floor of E3 as well.

MEET THE NEW WEB SLINGER -- Joshua "Spidey" Bentley
by Joshua Bentley

Adam has moved on and left a bright, hopeful newcomer to fill the shoes of those mighty Web Producers that have gone before. I am now the official Web Producer for Sierra Studios. The gaming world better buckle down, because I am full of ideas and creativity to make the Sierra Studios sites much more gamer inclusive and a fun place to be. I'm incredibly excited to be in this position as a fan of Sierra titles since the age of 13 and having been employee in Sierra's Tech Support SPANision for nearly 3 1/2 years. In my spare time, I travel around the country doing charity selling dental floss to blind men with no feet and trying to find a 7-11 that isn't open 24 hours (humor). Actually, I'm a huge gamer. I love my PlayStation, spending time with my wife and daughter, and reading all kinds of good stuff.
