The Royal Family of Amber

Albrecht- Villainous brother of Oberon who was imprisoned in the Abyss for a time before he was freed by the King in Yellow. Albrecht was destroyed by a manifestation of Oberon around the time of Benedict's death. It was Albrecht who sired Quynn by his rape of Marian.

Alexander- Son of Random and Vialle. While still an infant, Alexander was slain in Sarbonne by Caliban (the son of Bleys).

Ariel - Trump artiste of Amber. Ariel was the daughter of Bleys, and for a time served as advisor to the King. Her control over the Jewel of Judgment and her open scorn of the King's ability to rule brought her into conflict with Random, who eventually shot and killed her. Her death has divided the family and possibly brought war once more to Amber.

Bleys- Always at odds with Random, Bleys swore vengeance upon Random for his murder of Ariel. In retaliation, he sent his son Caliban to destroy Random's family. He personally slew Random, and incurred his death curse.

Clarissa [Crystal]- Unofficial head of security in Castle Amber. Clarissa is the daughter of Benedict and sister to Karl, whom she considers her mortal enemy. Interestingly enough, she was the only one present at Benedict's 'suicide' and so many find themselves wondering what really happened. Clarissa is essentially the warhammer of Amber, always ready to crush any enemy.

Caliban- Werewolf child of Bleys. Caliban is the half-brother of Ariel, and son of Bleys and the witch Sycorax, and has been much manipulated by the forces within and without Amber, including Queen Claire. To avenge his half-sister Ariel's death, he went too far and slew Vialle, and her two children, Iris and Alexander. For this, he is now hunted by many of the Amberites.

Iris- Daughter of Random and Vialle, Heir Apparent. Iris was slain in Sarbonne by Caliban.

Jareth- Son of Albrecht, half-brother to Quynn. Shapeshifter who attempted to conquer Amber under the guise of Eric. It was Jareth who destroyed Shadow 'Paris', the original location of Corwin's Pattern.

Karl [Kevin]- Mercenary Prince of Amber. Karl was the son of Benedict and brother to Clarissa, whom he regarded with amused contempt. His loyalty had oft come into question, and his dealings with Chaos indicated that he was rather mercenary in his alliances. His very introduction to Amber resulted from his conquest of A'Jounlea, one of the Golden Circle shadows. Karl was assassinated in his home shadow Europe.

Katherine [Matthew] - Daughter of Konrad and Nicholas. Raised in shadow with full knowledge of her family, Katherine was kidnapped by the King in Yellow shortly after her introduction to Amber. Though only eight years of age in her mind, the King forced her body to grow to eighteen years of age, so that she could bear him children. Fortunately she was rescued by the Amberites before this could happen, and in the battle versus the King in Yellow, her father Konrad sacrificed himself to save her and all of Amber. Orphaned and alone, trapped in a body made foreign and strange, what place will she find in Castle Amber?

Konrad- Son of Kianne and Karl, grandon of Osric. The unwitting tool of Mandor, brought to Amber to help bring about its downfall, Konrad narrowly escaped becoming a tool of the King in Yellow due to the aid of Fiona and Quynn. Unfortunately, his demonic taint was strong in him, and as time went on his attempts to ingratiate himself with the family only lead to greater misunderstandings and dangerous mistakes. Realizing the monster he would become, Konrad eventually sacrificed his own life to banish the King in Yellow and to free Katherine and Nicholas from the demonic taint in their blood.

Marcellus- First son of Benedict, brother of Marian. Died trying to avenge Marian. Little else is known of Marcellus.

Marian- Daughter of Benedict, granddaughter of Oberon. Marian gave birth to Quynn, who was the product of her rape by Albrecht, Oberon's brother. Marian killed herself out of despair not too long after Quynn's birth.

Nicholas- Son of Talia. Nicholas was recently imprisoned in Lowàr by Corwin after King Random used the Jewel of Judgment to suppress his memories and powers. The youth's dark aspirations have caused concern in both Amber and the Courts of Chaos, and his future seems uncertain at best.

Osric- Pawn of Demonkind. Osric apparently sacrificed his life to prevent demons from overrunning Amber, demons he himself had summoned and lost control over. His death has long been accepted as fact, and yet he has just recently began appearing in the dreams of at least one Amberite, who later nearly made Trump contact with him, which causes his death to be questioned.

Random- Driven mad by Ariel's death curse, by the Jewel of Judgement, and by the deaths of his wife and children, Random was eventually slain by Bleys. With his dying breath he passed the crown on to Arthur, and cursed Bleys.

Tiberius- Son of Karl, soldier of Amber, who rescued his father from Crab Island. Tiberius was supposedly slain by Clarissa's cyborg henchman, Rogers, and unlike other Amberites, he has remained in his tomb. Karl's grief and rage over the death of his son resulted in the execution of Rogers.

Sebastian- Mischievous childhood playmate of Quynn...son of Jareth...believed dead by Oberon's hand. It was on Sebastian's dare that Quynn initially walked the Pattern, and thus incurred the wrath of Oberon.

Waylan- Amberite physician and musician. Son of Finndo, and brother of Random. Waylon mistakenly thought that the newborn Nicholas was the reincarnation of Amon. He attempted to destroy the newborn Nicholas, but was stopped by Amon's followers. When he was later brought before Talia -- bloodied, poisoned, and near death -- Talia ordered that he should be hung upside-down in the dungeons until dead.

The Assorted Nobles of Chaos

Dara- Queen Mother of Chaos. Believed dead for a long time, it has been learned that she was in fact in Mandor's Library, convalescing from severe mental and physical injuries incurred while battling Kianne. She has recently returned to Amber, to see Corwin.

Isabella- Empress of Chaos, wife of Merlin. Notable because she is one of the few Chaosians with no demonic taint. She also had an affair with Torrance following his rescuing her from an attempted suicide, right around the time of Jareth's conquest of Amber.

Kianne- Shapeshifter extraordinaire, Demon Lady, servant to the Demon Lords who dwell beyond all of Amber and Chaos, the single most infamous Chaosian in Amberite history...daughter of Osric. Kianne was banished from Amber as a child by her father's blood curse, for Osric feared the possible results of her demonic heritage. Her banishment embittered her and caused her to wage war on Benedict's line. In the end, she was mortally wounded by Chadwick and later recovered by Konrad, who gave her to her doom.

Sebastian- Companion to Mandor...gave powers to Sycorax, who kidnapped Bleys and begat Caliban...it is uncertain whether this Sebastian is the same Sebastian that once befriended Quynn.

Victoria- Daughter of Finndo. A Logrus-wielder and powerful sorceress who, ignorant of Finndo's intentions, sided with her father during the conflict between Finndo and Benedict. She deeply resented Finndo's adoption of Karl. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

Shadow Persons of Note

Alia- Young servant to Princess Talia. Younger sister of Najib ibn Rashad. Age 15.

Cassilda- Former Queen of Yhtill, ancient Trump Artist. Cassilda (who might also be called Sand) is a member of the royal family of Carcosa...a previous Amber. She spent centuries imprisoned beneath the Lake of Hali when she opposed the King in Yellow in his attempts to destroy Amber. She currently associates with Quynn, Konrad, and Fiona.

Dr. Channard- Former head of the Channard Institute, now de facto religious leader of the Order of the Gash. Exposure to the abyssal energies of the Labyrinth warped Dr. Channard and changed him into something far from human. Before the change, he was a mentor to Konrad. After the change, he served in much the same capacity.

Clarissa- Wife of Torrence, from Shadow Reath. Though she shared the same name as Princess Clarissa and looked quite similar, there was in fact no relation between them.

Fatima- Personal assistant to Princess Talia. Eldest sister of Najib ibn Rashad. Age 18.

Jak- Enemy of Amber. It was Jak who burned Talia and imprisoned her in an insane asylum in a shadow known as Bedlam. Jak is also responsible for the murder attempt on Vialle using one of Corwin's guns (wounding Random instead), and was responsible for the first death of Quynn.

Julnar- Young servant to Princess Talia. Youngest sister of Najib ibn Rashad. Age 14.

Najib ibn Rashad - Young man from Karamoush. Only Golden Circle person Talia has ever "fed" upon. The degree of reality in him has caused her to be "haunted" by visions of him. In an effort to atone for her crimes, Talia has ensured that the future well-being of the family is secure.

Lt. Rilyn - Hand-to-hand combat trainer for Princess Talia.

Rogers- Cyborg servitor of Clarissa. Rogers was unjustly executed upon royal command for the murder of Tiberius, the son of Karl. It was later revealed that he had been framed for this murder by Kianne.

Lord Trenton - Martial trainer for Princess Talia. He grew up under the Reign of Oberon, fought alongside Eric in the Patternfall Wars, served with Gérard, Corwin.... It was obvious, however, that he did not wish to add "training a crazy, shrub-hugging, peace-monger" to his list of accomplishments. Fortunately, he consented to do it as a favor to Clarissa, who had asked him personally.

Vialle - Former Queen of Amber. Vialle was slain by Caliban in retaliation for Random's murder of Ariel.

Demons and Other Non-Humans

Akroyer- King of the Sidhara, a race of bodiless demons. Longtime companion of Quynn's...for a time he took the form of Quynn's sword, in an attempt to preserve the elder Amberite's life.

Amon- Demon Lord, also known as the Dragon. Amon is apparently one of the Demon Lords who exist beyond Chaos, and has been making a number of bids to influence the current war in Chaos. Amon has taken possession of Nicholas in the past in an attempt to kill Merlin, and it is questionable whether or not Nicholas is truly free of the Demon's influence. Konrad's research in the area has made it clear that Amon is a false name.

Britannica- Intelligent book once possessed by Konrad. Britannica possessed a great deal of information about the Amberites and it was uncertain whether or not Brit was truly loyal to Konrad. Britannica was destroyed when Konrad walked the pattern in Rebma.

Drakula- Husband of Princess Talia after he rescued her from the Bedlam Assylum. Drakula was an undead creature who fed upon Talia's noble blood, gaining strength and power as he did so. He was killed by Corwin in a disagreement.

Hastur- Demon Lord from Beyond, the Unnameable, or He Who Is Not to be Named. Hastur is a demon lord on the caliber of Amon, and is served by Kianne. Konrad's research links Hastur with Carcosa, the ruined city of his dreams, where he is currently imprisoned by the Abyssal pattern. He is also linked with the death(?) of Osric.

King in Yellow- Ancient enemy of Amber. The enemy of Amber's enemy (in this case Hastur) is, unfortunately, just another foe. The King will do anything to restore his home of Carcosa, and in the past his plans have involved the destruction of Ambre, the release of Albrecht, the aid of Jareth, and most recently, the kidnapping of Talia, Quynn, Konrad, Cassilda, and Katherine. Konrad gave his life to banish the King in Yellow to the Abyss.
