An Explosive $19K Poker Championship-Tinian, Northern Mariana IslandsTinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino will be celebrating the Stars and Stripes holiday with great aplomb. A two-day $19,000 Poker Championship will be held on July 6-7, 2001 commemorating the anniversary of American Independence. Inspired by the success and the demand of the last St. Patrick’s Weekend Championship, the upcoming Poker Championship is expanded to give registered players a thrilling chance to pit against each other and bring home bundles of cash and prizes. “The last championship (St. Patrick’s Weekend) was truly spectacular and it drew hundreds of spectators from neighboring islands to the casino. This Fourth of July Weekend one is a better deal with a much bigger grand prize,” says Gilbert Lee, Casino Marketing and Promotions Manager. The first place is $14,000 including a trophy. The first runner-up will receive $3,000, and the second runner-up $1,000. Non-winning finalists will each receive $300 each. There will also be consolation prizes. The total prize pool is dependent on the number of entries. A $300 entry fee would entitle the participant to join the championship; weekend accommodation at the Dynasty, buffet and open cocktail bar, party and souvenir items. “Seats are limited to 63 players so those who want to join this tournament are advised to register early. There are still some seats available,” said Mr. Lee. The preliminary rounds kick off on Friday July 6, 2001 from 7:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. On Saturday July 7, semi-finals start at 5:00 p.m. followed by the final round at 8:00 p.m. Afterwards would be an award presentation and a grand party celebration.
