«Jr. Fledgling»
Jaipurath circled the lake once more and then swam lazily towards her rider, who was lying by the edge of the water. “Trin?” The dragonet asked.
Trinari sat up and looked down at her lifemate. “What is it Jaipurath?”
The gold rested her head on the water’s bank and said, “I’m tired now. May I rest?”
Trinari shrugged and asked, “How many times have you swam around already?”
Jaipurath sighed and said, “Four times already. My legs, wings and tail are sore.”
Trinari smiled and said, “Alright fine. However, we’ll be down here again tomorrow. You have to continue this if you wish to be a strong flier later in your life.”
The large sized gold warbled and climbed out of the water, plopping down next to her rider. “Yes I know Trinari. You must do things to strengthen yourself as well correct?”
Trinari nodded and rubbed the gold’s eyeridge. “Yes, I will have to increase my strength, among other things. But for now however, let’s just relax and enjoy the day alright?”
Jaipurath rested her head on her front legs and crooned as Trinari’s bronze caer lizard, Leiner, flew towards the gold and landed lightly on her shoulder, curling up and falling asleep. Jaipurath followed his example and all three were soon asleep, soaking up the warm afternoon sun.
The next afternoon Trinari was woken when her bronze caer lizard began pulling lightly at her ear. She batted him away and then rolled over but just pestered her more. “What do you want?” She asked as she grabbed him. He chirped once and pointed towards Jaipurath’s quarters with his small claws. Trinari jumped out of bed and ran towards her dragon, wondering what was wrong.
When she opened the door Jaipurath warbled and said, “Glad to see you’re finally up. About four people stopped by to see you but I told them you were still asleep.”
Trinari raised an eyebrow and asked, “Four people? Who were they Jai?”
The gold scratched the back of her head with her hind leg in thought and then said, “One was the headwoman, and then there was Arlina, Elia, and someone named Wocant I think. He said that he would stop back later but that he had a couple of errands to run first.”
The goldrider smiled and asked, “Did he say when exactly?”
Jaipurath cocked her head to the side in question and said,“You are very curious about this one Trinari, but you are hiding your thoughts about him from me. Do you not trust me?”
Trinari shook her head quickly and kneeled down by her gold. “No of course I trust you Jai, it’s just, well I guess I didn’t want anyone to know how I felt about him and I suppose I hid my feelings fairly well don’t you think?”
Jaipurath crooned and said, “Yes I suppose you did. However, no more secrets all right? I don’t like not knowing everything about my rider.”
“You mean you don’t like not having the details on my love life don’t you?” Trinari asked as she gave her dragonet a hug.
“You might say that,” Jaipurath said as she crooned in happiness.
