GIRLS AAU BASKETBALL TEAM

Thanks for visiting the homepage of the 2000 Tennessee Raiders girls 15 & under AAU basketball team. The Tennessee Raiders AAU girls basketball club is a newly formed organization committed to: 1) Developing our players as athletes, students, and good citizens. 2) Competing for and winning championships on local, regional, state, and national levels. 3) Advancing our program and promoting our players in all areas based upon a well-rounded approach to the sport of basketball. This season, the Tennessee Raiders club will field AAU teams in age divisions 10-15. Although the Tennessee Raiders are new as an organization, the assembled coaching staff has accumulated scores of successful years in AAU competition on the national level and has coached 10 AAU NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!

2000 SEASON

The 2000 season will run from March until July with a goal of qualifying for and competing in the AAU National Tournament. The 15-U team most recently competed in the Southeast AAU Tennessee (East) Sub-State Qualifying Tournament held at Roane State Community College in Harriman, Tennessee. The team suffered a tough 62-61 loss to defending State Champion Tennesee Prospects but won four games to finish second and earn a berth in the State Tournament. The top eight teams in the state will participate in the State AAU Tournament be held in Brentwood, Tennessee on June 2,3,and 4. Top finishers at the State event will advance to the AAU National Tournament to be held in Amarillo, Texas during the week of July 16-24. Congratulations to the 11-U and 13-U Tennessee Raider teams that also earned spots in the State Tournament through their respective finishes in the Sub-State. The 11-U team, coached by Duane Leffew and Allan Ridenour, finished first in their Sub-State by going undefeated. The 13-U team, coached by Newell Lane, L.C. Wilson, and John Smith finished second in their Sub-State play. The 11-U State tournament is set for May 19-21 at Motlow State Community College. The 13-U State event is scheduled for May 12-14 in Lebanon, Tennessee.

The 15-U team roster consists of thirteen players from East and Middle Tennessee and one player from Southeastern Kentucky.
