CLOSETS
Everything you need to know to organize your wardrobe.
Keep...
- Classics such as turtlenecks, twinsets, khakis, sheath dresses, white tops,
and khaki, black or neutral pants and skirts
- Simple, non-trendy accessories such as belts, scarves, jewelry, hats and
bags
Toss...
- Shoes that are uncomfortable or stiff with age
- Anything worn to death or permanently stained
Give away to friends, a thrift shop or a resale shop...
- Things you haven't worn in the last four years
- Anything that–face it–always looked terrible on you or no longer
fits properly
- Clothes that aren't likely to come back into style
Now, organize...
- Place clothes you wear most frequently in easy reach; store out-of-season
clothes elsewhere
- Fold and stack T-shirts on shelves or in drawers
- Hang belts on hooks for easy viewing
- Put everyday shoes on standing or hanging racks; store the others in boxes
to protect from dust
- Protect sweaters by storing them in zippered cotton bags with anti-moth
products
- Hang blouses and shirts on hangers with rounded tips that won't put a dent
in the shoulders
- Hang skirts and pants from the waist
- Place handbags on shelves, but do not stack
- Hang totes and other bags with shoulder straps on hooks in the back of the
closet
