What am I currently doing?

I am a 3rd year Civil Engineering student at Imperial College of Science Techonology and Medicine, London. I am ALSO the sub warden for my halls of residents, uh huh, I am a pretty capable and responsible person, I take care of 120 people along with my colleague. Sometimes, these people have too much to drink and that is when the trouble starts hehehe! I don't know what's up with them and alcohol it is like they NEEEEDD to drink all the time. And every night they go down to the bar like it is the most natural thing to them! Obnoxious?

Why Civil Engineering?

I thought that Malaysia would be in demand for expertise dealing with Civil Engineering aspect, how did I know that we are supposed to suffer after I eventually graduate, and find out that there is almost nothing else to build in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia?!

It's that Commonwealth Games I am tellin' ya, everyone is rushing to build stuff before the Commonwealth Games that will take place in mid 1998! What about me? I need work too!!!! Plus, I reckon that Malaysia will be in an economic depression when my class graduates, it will be hell for us. *shudders* Personal Comment: "NO FAIR!!"

And you know what's worse? The recent economic downturn in Asia has really affected my studies, I now have to face the uncertainty of whether I will be able to continue my final year in university or not! I hope I will be able to finish this or else, I will have wasted 3 years of my life! And no one is too pleased with that Aye!

What do I like to do with my time?!

Interesting question........

To tell you the honest truth, I like computers more than Civil Engineering, and the online world is just too exciting! I would like to do programming in C and C++, and I have just learnt HTML 3.2 over the summer hols, just to find out that they are coming out with HTML 4.0, gimme a break will ya?! I plan to learn CGI scripting and perhaps Java too, some day.... I will keep on dreaming though.
I also play computer games! Yes, computer games rock, my dad says that I should have grown out of playing these computer games a long time ago, like when I was 15 or something?! I plan to put on a list of cool games for you to try and some commentary on them, but what kind of games I like best? I like the WarCraft/C&C/Kill Krush & Destroy genre, I will tell you how it looks like ok?! Not forgetting, lightning fast reflexes requiring games like Quake and Duke3D. I gave up on simulations awhile back, wanna know why?! Cause you really need to read before you can get down and kill something. That bites I am afraid.
Other than that, my online hours are also divided into MUDding time. I like MUDding because it offers a place where you can socialise and make friends, whom you need not know their faces. MUDding has taught me a whole lot, about people and how people react to certain stimuli. They are especially hostile when you try to player kill them, most of them do not like it much. Wonder why?! I plan to make a list on why people are hooked to MUDding for you remotely sane people who do not understand why we spend so much time looking at text flying up the screen at an unbelievable pace.
I also play sports, the occasional kick-about in Hyde Park does wonders to one's body, I am talking about the aches and pains my friends. I used to be reasonably good at volleyball, once I broke my left arm at the elbow, that was it, not more volleyball, cause everytime I dig it, it ball goes hay wire and would deflect into the most surprising directions. A useful tip: "God gives you only one body, there are no replacements!"
BBBUUUUTTTT! Thank God I can still do my favourite thing, Tae Kwon Do, yup, I have been a 1st Dan black belt since October 1992, I started training this sport in the year 1990 so, it has been 7 long years since then, I like this sport very much as it is the only thing which I find myself good in, it makes me feel so alive. Why Tae Kwon Do? There is a certain gracefulness about Tae Kwon Do, the movements are not hard and rigid like Karate [which emphasises stability and the rooting of oneself..... to the ground], they are not unflexible like Wing Chun [which uses lightning quick reflexes and swaying hands to confuse and hopefully catch the hand of the opponent] and not so indirect like Judo [hurling here and there, you know...]
However, I am not saying Tae Kwon Do is the best martial art, but take the case of a painting, it is not the water colours or oils which make a painting good, it is the skill of the wielder of the brush which spreads the oils across the canvas, which determines whether it is a good painting or not. Tae Kwon Do has done a lot for me, it gives me the confidence to know that if I am threatened physically, I shall know the best way to save what is most precious to me, to everyone.... life. One more thing, Tae Kwon Do will also be an official sport for the coming year 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney! Yay for World Tae Kwon Do Federation [WTF]!
