Web Master Tools - Friday, 31 July 1998

Mitzrah Keoni's Recommended Home Page Making Stuff
Hello there aspiring web masters/mistresses! Being a web master is pretty hard especially when you have a lot of HTML files to deal with. To date, my site has over 200 HTML files and the number is growing steadily, below here is a list of the software, etc that I use to create this images. Some of them are truly useful and I really do not know where I will be without them! I highly recommend them because they worked for me, so I reckon it would work for you too! Only the best for you!

HTML
CODING

bg_8.gif (812 bytes) I recognise the fact that I am a bit lazy, I want to churn out pages in a flash, because when I write something that is so wordy, I don't want to mess with the technicalities. However, be aware that sometimes it is better to do things from scratch and to know how to do that is especially important. So I use a lot of this HTML coding packages, some are good some are better, others take a long time to get used to, but hey?!
  • MS FrontPage 98 - http://www.microsoft.com/FrontPage
    • Very easy to use, something like a word processor just click and write and churn out pages.
    • The HTML coding is not too good and doesn't support older browsers like Netscape Gold.
    • At times, it can be really stubborn and ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to co-operate, that is where HTML Pad comes in.
  • Text Pad 32 - http://www.textpad.com
    • This program is ultimately cool. It has a lot of features, my favourite one is the search and replace tool.
    • It can do multiple pages at one time, so if I need to change a standard thing on my pages, like a link, it will automatically look for the text and replace it with the correct code I specify.
    • It can open multiple pages at the same time, and it is highly customisable with a good history UNDO feature.
  • HTML Pad - http://www.intermania.com
    • HTML pad already has all the standard HTML 3.2 buttons and bars all ready for you to click and use.
    • If you are a web master that wants total control over what tags you use, choose this package, the way it calls up the browser for previews is amazing, just one click and it will call up Netscape or Internet Explorer!

IMAGING
SOFTWARE

bg_8.gif (812 bytes) Here's some really good image manipulation stuff that I use a lot. You might find them especially useful too, who knows?
  • Paint Shop Pro 5.0 - http://www.jasc.com
    • This is the software I have grown to love and hate, love because it is too easy to use and hate because I wished it had some other function but it is really difficult to learn from the helps, it can be somewhat inconsistent!
    • This is the ultimate as it is easy to make any kind of software if you have creativity that is.
  • Adobe Photoshop - http://www.adobe.com
    • This software has so many tools, I cannot describe the whole package.
    • All good successful web masters with nice pics use this!
  • Web Optimiser - http://www.webopt.com
    • This software chops down 150k jpeg files into 15k ones of the same image size. I AM NOT KIDDING.
    • Very useful for graphic intensive sites!
  • Xara 3D! - http://www.xara.com
    • It does really nice 3D words and stuff to give your site the additional "IMPACT!"
