Do you want to apply for a new Home Page with GeoCities? No problem, here are the steps:

  1. If you don't feel like giving GeoCities your E-Mail address you can apply for an E-Mail address at the following list of FREE web mail service providers:

    you can then use this address to apply for a GeoCities account.

  2. You need to think up a cool membername! Make sure it is really unique so that you would not encounter an Error Message, when you apply for an account. If you want a to choose a common name like say alex, try adding numbers before or after the name so that it looks like this alex123 or something. Also make sure that you use ALL LOWERCASE letters. Membernames like HaCkERz will not be accepted.
  3. Now think of what your home page will be about. GeoCities sections the homepages into categories. So if you page would have a theme like say you like to write your homepage on Aliens, then you should consider setting up home in Area51. Or if you like Anime and Japanese Pop you will then consider Tokyo. Lovers of philosophy would probably want to move into Athens and poets will want to go to SoHo. This is a list of all the neightbourhoods in GeoCities.
  4. Please click on the list to bring up the page on the neighbourhoods at GeoCities.
  5. Now think of the theme of your page and see if it fits into any of the categories listed there on the page.
  6. If you have decided, then click on the neighbourhood you'd like to join. This will take you to the neighbourhood's main page.
  7. To apply for a page, click on the "JOIN THIS NEIGHBOURHOOD" or "JOIN" button.
  8. This will then bring you to a page where all the empty addresses of the suburb will appear. Click on the suburb that meets your fancy.
  9. You will be then taken to another page where you can see 4 digit numbers like 6140 etc.
  10. Click on a number which you think you will like, it is your NEW address.
  11. Fill out the form with the relevent particulars.
  12. Wait patiently for the E-Mail with the password to arrive.
  13. Once you receive the E-Mail, change your password immediately so that GeoCities will know that you want the site. You can change your password at http://www.oocities.org/members/tools/profile_editor.html
