Mitzrah's Get IT Right Column!

Ok, you have applied for a home with GeoCities, now what? It is time to build! Do you know any HTML? Are you accustomed to web surfing? Well do not fear, learning has to start somewhere.

What is moving in? As you know GeoCities will terminate your account if you do not "move in" within 2 weeks of applying for your homepage. In order to keep your homepage and tell GeoCities that you have moved in, you only need to do the following:

  1. Go to http://www.oocities.org/members/tools/profile_editor.html
  2. Log in using your GeoCities membername and password, which should have arrived by E-Mail.
  3. Edit your "Password" by entering a new password and please use something you can remember but will still be private to you.

GeoCities will now acknowledge that you have "MOVED IN"

Next, where do you go? Here are a few good links that will help you get started!

  1. Editing your HTML files and starting new web pages.
GeoCities has provided a good place to help you start up, it will well you what are the BASIC, ADVANCED and EZ Editors are. If you are looking to add new HTML pages, go here!

  2. GeoCities own BluePrint Magazine.
These tutorials help you set up your home, it explains to you the various tools available to you at GeoCities, and how to use them. They also have extensive help files to aid you in your setting up.

  3. HTMLgoodies
It is a very well known site, they help you in learning HTML. There are many tutorials to choose from. I learnt HTML the hard way, from a book. This is much easier!

  4. JAVAgoodies
This place has quite an extensive library of JAVA applets that can be used on your home pages. Do check the place out.

Notes from Alex:

If you found my guidance helpful, please drop a note by my guestbook! So I know that you have dropped by and benefitted from my efforts, it took me quite sometime to get these tutorial up! Click on home and then SIGN GUESTBOOK! I will also visit your homepage and will sign your guestbook too.
