• 14th Angel Zelel (Angel of Might)
• This super angel shoots crosses like the first one, but this one's crosses are capable of plowing through the ground.
• The geofront is destroyed.
• Eva 02 is cut up. Shinji, underground like normal people, is great shocked when he sees Eva 02's head flying into his shelter.
• Eva 01 rejects Ayanami. Eva 01 rejects the dummy plug.
• Ayanami departs in Eva 00.
• Eva 00, remember it lost an arm last time, blows itself up (With Rei in it) in a suicide run with a N^2 bomb. The angel covers its energy source, the red orb, before she can hurt it.
• Shinji sees Kaji (Watering his stupid melons) and Kaji tells Shinji if an Angel meets Adam resting in the ground below, the world is doomed (Ding ding! Motive for the angel attacks!) Then Kaji convinces Shinji to pilot Eva 01.
• Shinji arrives and pilots Eva 01.
• Shinji battles the Angel within headquarters, arriving just in time to save Misato and Ritsuko.
• Eva 01 loses its left arm.
• During the battle Shinji's power runs out.
• The angel tears open the chest plate of Eva 01 to find a red orb. The angel attacks the orb.
• Eva 01 awakens (without power) and starts fighting the angel.
• Eva 01 rips off part of the angel and sticks it on the left stump, instantly regenerating the arm.
• Eva 01, after defeated the angel, eats it and destroys the bonds holding it. It is learned from Ritsuko that Eva 01's armor is actually what controls the Eva, not what protects it.

• When the camera in the Eva is turned on, it shows that Shinji dissapeared. Shinji is absorbed by the Eva, very strange. (All that is left is his plug suit. Discontinuity, he was wearing normal clothes in the last episode.)
• Shinji reflects upon his life. He sees his friends and his enemies as he tries to understand the purpose of his life.
• Right before they save him he thinks he sees his mother. (He sees this in the pool of water that they show in the beginning theme song.)
• Misato and Kaji talk about something while having sex. I don't remember what they said, but Kaji gave Misato something and he says that might be his last present to her.

I've rented the ADV translations of the last episodes (At last) and have made a few updates.

• It is 1999, Fuyutski (Vice-Commander) recalls Yui Ikari falling in love with Gendo.
• We learn Gendo was part of the Katsugari (Misato's father) expedition in Antarctica. We also learn Gendo leaves the expedition with backups of the notes the day before Second Impact.
• Gendo and Yui marry, Gendo takes Yui's last name.
• Gendo and Yui work for Gehirn or something like that. (German for Brain).
• We learn Yui died in a "freak accident", and Gehirn is changed into Nerv. Ritsuko's mom is glad of Yui's accident.
• Young Ritsuko catches her mom kissing Gendo. :-P
• Gendo takes care of young Rei.
• Young Rei was strangled by Dr. Akagi's mom, because Rei looks like Yui and because Rei called Agai an old hag.
• Akagi's mom says "You are replaceable, like me" as Rei dies.
• Akagi falls from a high place and dies on one of the Magi. It makes sense, because in an earlier episode, Dr. Akagi tells Ritsuko that the Magi are the three aspects of her, which Dr. Akagi does before encountering Rei.
• Kaji leaves Misato a touching message.
• Kaji is last seen saying "hi" to someone before the screen cuts away and the sound of a gunshot is heard. (Did Misato shoot him?)
• Misato hears Kaji's message and she becomes upset.

• 15th Angel Arael (Angel of Birds)
• Asuka is defeated by a holy light that attacks her mind and soul. In the background you hear music. "Hallelujah Chorus " from Handel's "Messiah"
• We learn that Asuka's need for independence comes from her fear that she is nothing but a doll to be used and killed, like her mother.
• Ritsuko notes that the light not only sees her soul, but also scans her mind. She is surprised that the angels want to know the human mind.
• Asuka has a flashback, her mother is asking her to die with her.
• They decide to use the Spear of Longinus, but Misato protests because she heard that if an Eva and Adam came in contact, supposedly Third Impact would occur.
• Rei takes Eva 00 and pulls the Spear of Longinous (How'd it get so big?) out of Adam and throws it through the angel.
• It is mentioned that mass production of EVAs has occurred. Five up to unit 13 are being made in seven separate locations.
• The spear of Longinous is lost. It has achieved LUNAR orbit, and there is simply no way they that they can retrieve an object with that much mass. (Remember that it is a weapon sized to be used by an EVA, one wonders how Jesus survived after being pierced by it. But of course, Christianity is almost something totally different in Evangelion.)

Another angel appears.

• 16th Angel Almisael (Angel of the Womb) Looks like a ring of DNA
• The pattern of the angel changes between orange and blue.
• The ring breaks and attacks as a string of energy.
• Eva 00 is pierced, the unit and Rei are corrupted
• Eva 02 is sent out, but Asuka's synch rate is too low and she can't move.
• Rei talks to an angel in her mind, the angel is embodied by another Rei. The angel teaches her emotions.
• In reality, Rei begins to cry. A new sensation for her.
• Eva 01 attempts to fight, but the angel threatens Shinji. Rei decides to blow herself and Eva 00 up with the angel.
• Misato looks at the data chip that Kaji gave her.
• Later in the episode Rei appears again, in bandages. Shinji thanks her for saving him, she says she was unaware that she did. Then she mysteriously says, "Probably because I am the third Rei"
• Seele wants to question Rei, but Gendo sends Ritsuko instead. Ritsuko is naked in front of the committee for no apparent reason. The committee coldly informs Ritsuko that Gendo sent her in place of Rei.
• Ritsuko shows Misato and Shinji all the Rei clones in the deep base underneath Central Dogma.
• She shows them the skeleton thing, failed EVAs. She tells Shinji that his mother died there.
• Ritsuko says "As a result, humanity was punished. That was 15 years ago. The god that they found vanished. However, they tried to revive the god themselves. It was Adam. A human was made from Adam to be close to the god. That is Eva."
• Ritsuko destroys all clones because she realizes that Gendo has chosen Rei above her. Ritsuko says "Both mother and daughter are idiots!", because now it is apparent that Gendo had an affair with both.
• SEELE mention that there is one angel left and that they are worried because another EVA was lost and they lost the spear.
• Screw up: ADV uses the wrong Fly Me to the Moon scene for the sub. It's supposed to be a different color and a different version of the song.

Flashback, Asuka when she was selected to be the pilot of Eva 02. I think this is also when she remembers her mom hanging from suicide.

The Fifth child, Nagisa Kaoru, appears. He's cool, he's friendly. What a nice guy.
 

• Shinji and Kaoru meet for the first time at the lake created by Eva 00's destruction. (He sits a statue of a headless angel?)
• Kaoru hums Ode to Joy and says "A song is good. It is a fine creation of the lilim." Kaoru continues using the word lilim in place of humans for the rest of the episode.
• Lilim! LILIM! It's a real non-Japanese word! It means children of Lilith! (Of course in mythology the lilim are monsters.)
• Screw up: In the sub, ADV has Kaoru saying human instead of Lilim. If you listen to his voice, he is saying lilim, which is correct.
• Kaoru is standing in front of Eva 02 and says "Come, Adam's alter ego, and the servant of the Lilim" (Humans are lilim, the offspring of Lilith.) before he jumps off the platform and floats up to Eva 02, Eva 02 awakens, pilotless.
• Note: I think that the above line is proof that Evas are the clones of Adam, just like the angels.
• 17th and Final Angel: Kaoru
• Battle between Eva 02 and Eva 01 during shaft down to Adam. In the background is that song "Ode to Joy" which is based on Beethovan's fourth movement in the Ninth symphony.
• As they battle Kaoru says the AT field is the holy light of the mind/soul that every individual has.
• The strongest AT field detected is built around Terminal Dogma by Kaoru.
• The hijacked Eva 02 and Eva 01 land in Terminal Dogma where they begin battling. Shinji feels betrayed. Kaoru leaves to head for Adam.
• Another AT field appears which cancels out the previous AT field.
• Scene cuts to Rei, who is standing in Terminal Dogma.
• Kaoru talks to Adam "Adam, our mother being. Those born from Adam must return to Adam, even anihilating humanity?.... No! It's different. This is Lilith." (Lilith pronounced as "Riris" in Japanese)
• Shinji beats Eva 02 and catches Kaoru as he is talking to Lilith.
• Important thing I left out earlier, Kaoru thanks Shinji for being his friend. Kaoru says he was born to meet Shinji. Kaoru tells Shinji that Shinji must live.He looks at Rei and smiles.
• Shinji crushes Kaoru.
• Interesting to notice: Kaoru's hands are shown only once, and that was the time when he took Shinji's hand into his own. Why is this interesting? Well, there is this superstition that if you don't have hands, you don't have a soul, so by showing Shinji his hand, Kaoru is actually displaying the humanity in him that must have developed by his compassion for his friend.

Shinji's delusional. Anyway, this volume would make much more sense with watching End of Evangelion. All you need to know is the Human Instrumentality program has begun and is going on while everything in these two episodes are occurring in Shinji's mind. Even though all these connections between souls and dreams is very weird and stuff, it is the reality in the series so bare with it.

The important fact to realize is that these two episodes aren't just about Shinji coping with his guilt. It is also about the Instrumentality occurring. All of this and next episode takes place in Shinji's mind. We also learn about the people he knows through their dreams.

• Shinji feels greatly betrayed because someone he loved, Kaoru, was his enemy. (Like his dad? hmm.)
• Shinji is reevaluating his entire world because of the impact of Kaoru's death.
• Asuka is shown in Eva 02 again, she's thinking about how useless she is as a pilot.
• Everything else happens in Shinji's mind.

Shinji's having strange fantasies, he's lost it. :-) Can't wait to see what really is happening.

• Shinji traps himself in his ideal life.
• After the fantasy the voices in his mind tell him that his perceptions create the world.
• Characters talk to their inner children.
• The voices tell him that since it is his self-loathing that makes everyone seem to hate him.
• Shinji learns to like himself, his dream world collapses.
• All the characters (Including Rei and Shinji's mom) say "Congratulations!"
• It ends with Shinji saying a heartfelt "Thank you"
• Screw up: For the credits in the sub, ADV shows the English voice actors. What's up with ADV and subs?

EVANGELION: DEATH

Seventy minutes of review of the 13 episodes. It is basically organized by the characters. It is ordered in the children's appearance at the concert. It begins on a concert hall floor (Shiji's mind? Genesis 0:13). The shadow of Shinji and someone else (His father? His cello?) entering. Shinji begins tuning. Shinji plays the cello, Asuka and Rei the violin, and Kaoru also appears to play the cello.

New Scenes

• Redid scene: When Rei is briefing Shinji for battle against the cube (Ramiel), it is done from a different perspective, but the dialogue is basically the same.
• Redid scene: After Ramiel (The geometric angel) melts Eva00, the art seems different. Rei's smile is nicer looking.
• Added: When Rei pulls out the Spear of Longinous to fight the Angel of Birds, the crucified "Angel" regenerates its legs.
• Added/redone: When Ritsuko's mother strangles young Rei, it shows her face, Rei sees Kaoru's face flash as she dies.
• New: The shot that occurs after Kaji's last appearance (Look how I phrased that!) is changed into a slap. Afterward, the following dialogue is said.
SLAP!

Asuka: Don't say such nonsense!

Shinji: Don't you get it! Kaji is dead! (Something like that at least.)

• While the ending credits are rolling the picture is of a headless angel immersed in the lake. The body is distorted and hunched, like an Eva in battle stance.

EVANGELION: REBIRTH

Shinji, still traumatized by Kaoru's death, stares blankly at the water and a statue of what appears to be a headless angel (Allusion: Wings of Victory?) (Actually, the statue may have been what Kaoru was first sitting on.)

• Shinji finds Asuka in a hospital room. He asks her to help him alleviate his guilt, but she's unconscious. He begs her and shakes her lightly, thus accidentally knocking the blanket to the floor and seeing Asuka's bare chest.
• The next part is controversial. Some people think Shinji rapes Asuka, while others think Shinji masturbates. The reason people think this is because Shinji's hand is wet and there is no obvious other reason for it being that way.
• Update: 9-20 Oh god! I just watched the VCD again and what Shinji is doing is very obvious. A) Asuka's door is locked. B) Heavy breathing as Shinji is alone with Asuka. C) White stuff on hands.
• Rei awakens from sleeping. She leaves her apartment. The camera focuses on Gendo's completely broken glasses on the ground.
• Meanwhile... Misato realizes that Kaji hacked the MAGI to learn Nerv's true plans and she does the same, but is interrupted by SEELE hacking into the MAGI with the other MAGI of the world.
• SEELE wanted to use the MAGI to force Third Impact, but Gendo uses Ritsuko to prevent the hack.
• SEELE tells the Japanese government that Nerv plans to initiate Third Impact, so a bunch of assassins break into NERV and slaughter most of the personnel.
• Misato hides Asuka and Eva02 in a lake. Shown in TV Episode 25
• Shinji is having greater mental problems than usual. He is nearly killed, when Misato saves him by killing the assassins.
• Gendo finds Rei in an LCL vat. When she gets out she faces him and he tells her "It's time" Their poses are like that of episode 25.
• Shinji is literally dragged by Misato into a car.
• Misato says that Second Impact occurred because humans shrunk the the angel in Antarctica. 2nd Angel Adam, Giant of Light (Actually, in the picture book Adam, in the list of angels, Adam is the 1st Angel while the 2nd Angel is ???.
• Misato also tells Shinji there is one more angel. 18th Angel Humans
• While being bombed by the army Asuka sees a vision of her mother in her Eva and she rises from her gloom and screws up a lot of SEELE's forces.
• This ends with SEELE sending a bunch of jets to drop EVA 5-13 down. All you can see is that they're white, have wings, and they have a Kaworu dummy plug (It's written upside down.)

ARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGH!!!!!!! It's very interesting but all I can say is that it will leave you with a feeling of incompleteness. Words cannot describe it...
