Mars is known as Hino Rei in Japan. In American she is Raye. She was born on April 17th.

Mars is a Shinto Prietess, and also the senshi of fire. She uses her powers to talk to the fire and let it guide her. She lives at Cherry Hill, a temple, with her grandfather. Her short elf-like grandfather turns out to be one of the reincarnated shadow warriers. Mars gets one of her powers specifically from being a priestess, the Anti-spirit scroll attack. In North America this is the attack where she says "I call upon the powers of Mars Fireball Charge!" The interesting thing is she is a Shinto priestess, and yet goes to a Catholic school. Hmmmm....

Other attacks that Mars posesses are te Fire Soul (Mars Fire Ignite), Burning Mandala (Mars Celesial Fire Surround), and Mars Flame Sniper.

Mars is fairly powerful, she is the only one of the inner senshi with two powers in plain old Sailor Moon. She manages to beat two of the doom and gloom sisters before dying in the last episode.

Raye is a flirt. She is often fighting over a guy with one scout or another. She actually dates Darien, until she finds out he is Tuxedo Mask and is destined to be in love with Sailor Moon. She also argues continuously with Sailor Moon. They love competing against each other, but in the end they are true friends. A couple of times when Serena is in trouble, Raye sticks up for her in the time of need.
