Asuka is a ¾ German and ¼ Japanese genius graduating from university at the age of 14. She is the pilot of Eva Unit 02, Asuka has been trained as a pilot of an Evangelion and graduated from college in Germany. She was the "second child" selected by the "Marduk report", training as an Eva pilot in germany with german built Eva Unit 02 before she came to Japan with Ryohji Kaji. She is now a student at Tokyo-3 municipal Jr. High school, living with Misato Katsuragi, and Shinji.

HER PAST

Asuka's mother is a technician of the NERV-1 in Germany. Her mother got into an accident while test piloting EVA-02 and became insane. After this, she thought the doll was Asuka and ignored the real Asuka. Her mother had always talked to the doll and wanted Asuka(the doll) to die with her. Later she killed the doll and hang herself when Asuka wanted to tell her that she had been chosen to be the pilot of EVA-02 and will not be alone again. Asuka's mother died in front of her when she is still a five years old child. After her mother's death, Asuka's father married again. It is seemed that her stepmother took her like her own child.
