Misato Katsuragi is in charge of the First Division of Operations Section in Department of Tactics and Operations of NERV headquarters and is also third in command of NERV. She is Promoted From Captain to Major. She has a pet penguin, Penpen, and has taken the responsibility to care for both Shinji and Asuka. Misato and is there guardian. She is encharge of the Eva's missions and has full command when Commander Gendou Ikari or Vice Commander Kouzou Fuyutsuki are not there. Misato is often left in the dark about the real orgins of the Eva, and what NERV is truely up to. Dr. Ritsuko Akagi is her best friend.

HER PAST

At the age of 14 Misato was in Antarctica with her father, a researcher during the Second Impact. Her father sacrificed his life saving her. She joined NERV to avenge her father's death. Dr. Ritsuko Akagi and Ryohji Kaji are her old friends from college. She used to live with Kaji 8 years ago.
