Finally, I was able to get my hands on a subtitled copy of The End of Evangelion. It was great to be finally be able to see two unseen episodes of Neongenesis Evangelion!!! It made me realize just how much I missed seeing new stories involving Misato, Shinji, Asuka, and Rei.
The sad part of the whole story was in fact the ending. Everyone on Earth evolved to a higher plane with the exceptions of Asuka and Shinji. I guess, in a way it implies that they will be Adam and Eve for the next cycle of humanity.
At the same time though, seeing Rei and Kaworu change into giant ephemeral beings was a big shocker! As a mass of Rei's goes and touches every human being on earth, appearing as those whom each person loves the most, each person dissolves into fluid, being replaced by a large glowing cross that shoots off into the heavens after the Rei/Kaworu symbiote. Spectacular and Frightening at the same time.
It is my fervant hope that ADV or Viz gets the rights to The End of Evangelion for the English Dub. While the storyline and the subtitles are complete, the video quality of this copy SUCKS!!!
