NBA/Slam Dunk by Dr.Zero

NBA and Slam Dunk Info

You are my guest, .

Ahem! Dr.Zero here. I'm going to do this page because Sakuragi is too stupid to explain about the NBA. Rukawa GF here~! Writing in this color is me. ^^ Be warned~! My brother loves sarcasim~!! He isn't really trying to be mean or anything. Also this is for those fans of Slam Dunk who just read for the "CUTE" boys(like RUKAWA, Ru GF: Hey! that is my boy friend!!!, Sendoh, Fujima, Jin, Koshino, etc) in the story. So I thought HOW can I can get throught these AIRHEADS (Air Jordon?) that Slam Dunk is about BASKETBALL!!! and not BOYS!!! Rukawa GF: . . . . . . .

So I decided to make this page to let you know about what is BASKETBALL!!! Well first of all, NBA stands for "National Basketball Association". This isn't the only Basketball Association in the USA. There is NCAA(National Colleiate Athletic Association, which started 1906 with 13 college to over 990 today including colleges and universities, athletic conference, and coaches' association)basically college basketball, and FIBA(I think it is Federal International Basketball Association which is world wide basketball game).

There is some difference in these three associations but I'm not going into them. The Slam Dunk game rules are mixed with NBA, NCAA, but mostly the rules are from FIBA. One thing that Slam Dunk doesn't have the rules for the FIBA is the alley-oop rule which is not allowed in the FIBA and considered a basket interference foul. Also the lane size shape for the FIBA is a trapezoid, which in Slam Dunk, it is a rectangle.

Did You Know That ?!

  • The most exciting players to watch in around 1985 -1990 (Where Inoue based most the Slam Dunk characters from) are Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, and Isiah Thomas. (Which are in Slam Dunk, Maki, Jin, Rukawa, and Sendoh!!!)
  • The Top Four assist player in NBA history are (in random order): Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, and John Stockton.
  • In 1997-88 NBA finals, the two teams were Detroit Piston, and L. A. Lakers. Before the match, Isiah Thomas and Magic Johnson exchange peck (glaring at each other)before the First Game.(This also happened a Ryonan and Kainan game with Sendoh and Maki.) The match went to Game 7 with L. A. Lakers with 108 and Pistons with 105. (very close game) This is similar to Kainan and Ryonan match which Ryonan lost with 7 points but they had a overtime.
  • Detroit Piston were first called Fort Wyne Zollner because that was the owner's name. In 1957 he moved the Piston to Detroit and later, the name was changed to Detroit Pistons
  • The man who invented the 24 seconds shot-clock is Danny Biasone in 1954 which improved the game by forcing the players to move faster and score more points.
  • Before the rule of shot clock and team fouls (that is before 1954), the average team points are around 79 with 75 to 80 shot attempts, 80 to 100 fouls, and three blood fist fight. The reason is because the team have all the time they need to score, and free throw is only awarded when on motion of shooting. So the players drag time, pass the ball all around the court and use the ‘tactical fouling' which the ‘not-good-players' start off and just foul the good players before they shoot. Since there is no team foul limit (after the foul limit, the opposing team gain two free throw on every foul when the team make a foul) they could foul all they want (this lead to blood fist fight).
  • The Celtics nickname is ‘The Dynasty' because they have the most history in the NBA. First, Boston Celtics and New York Knickerbockers are the only team that started when the NBA started (1946) and is still present without changing their names. Second, the Celtics won 20 championships total and at year from 1957 to 1969 (13 seasons) they won 11 NBA titles with 8 titles in a row. Third, there were great players in Celtics like Bill Russell, one of the best centers in NBA history, Bob Cousy(or Houdini of the Hardwood), known for his blind pass, Frank Ramsey, the first all-around-player sixth-man, Sam Jones, known for his critical shot, and of course Larry Bird, for his three point shooting.
  • The person who invented the game basketball, Dr. James Naismith who was a instructor in YMCA Training School. In 1891, he thought of a simple game which players could raise their sight and extend their reach. It started with a two peach basket hanging in a gymnasium balcony. He set this game for his pupils to play indoors during the long winter at Springfield Mass.. He thought that elevating the goal would promote finesse and agility over football. Today, basketball is the most popular sport next to baseball and football in U. S. A.
  • L.A. Lakers, started 1948, was first called Minneapolis Lakers until they moved to Los Angeles which they changed their name to Los Angeles Lakers or L. A. Lakers.

I know you are bored, so on with the players(Most of these facts are up to 1992).
