asagiri yuAsagiri Yu ‚ ‚³‚¬‚è ƒ^

Unbearably cute to some people, but I don't think so. Well ok, she does use very cute characters with over large round eyes and fashionable clothes, I especially love the way she draws her super deformed charachters, but sickeningly cute? I guess it's a matter of personal taste :).Other than that, she needs to improve the way she draws people playing sports though, their poses are unrealistic and my ex tennis coach would have a fit if he saw some of the poses she drew.

Status She was quite active in Nakayoshi, but I haven't anything about her lately.

  • Min-Min*
A hopelessly inept magician was exiled to the human world in the form of a doll, now all she needs is a human to kiss her and turn her back to her human form
  • Sotsugyo Sashin*
It's graduation day and probably the last chance that Ryoko and Tatsuhiko can declare their love for each other. The problem is will either one be brave enough to say it before it it's too late?
  • Konna Panic*
Weak, clumsy and just plain ignored seems to be the description which suits Mai best. Then one day she found that she has the super natural ability she longed for. It's a slight pity that she looks like a quasi fox-human figure when it happens...

CLAMP

How can you tell if you're reading a CLAMP manga?

Well for one thing, if you're a fan for cute little thingies, you're in for a treat...Mokona /^o^\, Kero-chan,Kouhaku and others are at your service! Usually meant as an added kawaii-ness to the story, this has almost become sort of a trademark of their works and it's a real eye candy too!

CLAMP arguably has some of the most creative storylines around. Their stories could range from simple,magic-less and rather corny high school drama like Suki. Dakara Suki to full-fledged action like Magic Knight Rayearth to light comedies like Campus Cop Duklyon and Miyuki-chan In Wonderland.

Immensely popular Tokyo Babylon and X are now widely regarded by fans as science-fiction classics and other titles such as Seiden RG Veda with its unique reference to Hindu mythologies, Korean folktale-based Shunka-den and Card Captor Sakura, which is inspired from tarot cards, really makes one wonder whether there is going to be a dry to their creative juices.

In the artwork department, however, it's either you love it or you don't. Fans fond of soft, flowing lines a la Saitou Chiho or Ueda Rinko might find CLAMP's sharp lines and bold inking in Tokyo Babylon or X too harsh for the tastes (blame Mokona Apapa for this ^^). In that case, Card Captor Sakura or Suki. Dakara Suki which are both drawn by Nekoi Mick might be more to your liking. Worshippers of the opposite, of course, are welcome to drool over Kinomoto Touya and other Mokona Apapa-esque bishounens ^_^

CLAMP used to have more members (ex-member includes Akiyama Tamayo who had collaborated in Cluster)but they're currently reduced to these 4 women:

Name Nanase
OHKAWA
Mokona
APAPA
Mick NEKOI Satsuki

Hijiri Ringo or Hijiri Suzuko¹—éŽq

Her work shows two very distinct traits about this mangaka. One being her love of food the other being her wacky sense of humor. These two traits can be seen in her work, her drawings are not as fine as other shoujo manga writers it's amost rather plain in comparison, her sense of humor is also edging on the slapstick. I'm pretty sure that Hijiri publishes the two mangas below in Chao magazine. Hijiri herself promotes the magazine through out the manga, appearing as a character with an apple on top her head. (Ringo incidentally means apple). I'm not sure if she still writes for Chao though. Another thing, which I noticed while reading through her manga, is her obsession with the Japanese fairy tale Momotaro (The Peach Boy). Whenever she could she'll try to include any part of Momotaro in the story.

Status: Retired.

The first impression was that I was a little surprised at what I thought was a completely different style in the way she draws male and female characters. Her male characters are usually long limbed, sharp featured guys, while her female characters are markedly rounder. However, what impressed me the most is her cinematic approach towards manga, she is one of the few shoujo authors who can beautifully capture complete silence as well as more action based frames with ease.

Ikeno Koi ’r–ì —ö

Birthday 16 th of April 1959
Birth Place Iwate, Hokkaido
Zodiac Aries
Blood Type B

Debut work was "Happy End Monogatari", published in Ribbon in 1979. It was actually "Tokimeki Tonight", which made her famous. It is still a true classic in the comedy/romance sub genre. Not too sure what her other works are like, though people did say that they retain her use of absurd humour. She is the type of writer who can see one possibility out of a situation, then stretch it for any comic possibility while still making it look remarkably natural!

Kawachi Yukari‚©‚í‚¿ ‚ä‚©‚è

Kawachi Yukari Born on 30th of March 1967, star sign is Aries, blood type A, height 163 cm and weight 44 kg. Her hobbies are playing the piano, especially Chopin and mucking around with Tarot cards. One sister, Saori whom she talks about constantly. Saori is now working for someone else, instead of being Yukari's assistant. It's about time I actually add Kawachi in to the list. She has a very unique way of drawing in terms of the way her characters seemed to have a longer chin. To tell the truth I didn't even realise it until someone pointed it out to me. Her sister Saori used to do help her with some of her work, but not any more.

Status: Kawachi sensei is still active working at Friend Magazine.

Kitagawa Miyuki

Kitagawa Miyuki –kì ‚݂䂫

Born on the 1st of January in Tokyo, star sign Capricorn, blood type B. Her hobby is kareoke and travelling. She debuted in the 1984 December issue of Bessatsu Shoujo Comics. Her work reminds me of Asagiri Yu's ever so cute characters, except perhaps sexier. At the same time, her work tends to be very angst ridden at the worst of time, but like Asagiri Yu her super deformed characters provide some welcome comic relief.

Status: She's active in Shoujo Comics (Sho-Comi) Magazine.
