Toni joined Showbiz at the young
age of four. She was a commericial model for a Johnson's Lotion
commercial.
Her big break came in 1993, when
she was chosen to be one of the talents of Ang TV. From thereon,
Toni's star got bigger and brighter. She got into serious movies
such as Kung Ako'y Iniwan mo where she starred with the likes of
Lorna Tolentino and Gabby Concepcion.
Wanting to expand her horizons,
Antoinette joined Repertory Philippines in 1994. Since then, she has
acted in three plays namely Les Miserables, The Wiz,
and I Ought to Be in Pictures.
It was, however, through the weekly
soap-opera Anna Karenina that Toni's fan following expanded.
She plays the sweet Anna who was given up for adoption when she was
just a baby and everyone thought that her mother, the daughter of a
rich family, had died. Her grandparents sought out for her but had
to figure out which one among three possible candidates was their
real grand daughter. Eventually, it came to light that Anna was
indeed the true Monteclaro.
When Viva Television revamped the
cast of the hit youth-oriented TV show, T.G.I.S, the powers that be
had no qualms in including Antoinette as one of the regulars of the
show. She gives life to her onscreen persona of Bianca de Jesus --
the sweet, fun-loving, sometimes vain, but loyal friend.
A true goldmine of a talent, Toni
can also sing. She recently launched her debut album entitled First
Voice under Viva Records.

Any TGIS (Thank God It's Sabado) fanatic would know that it was Antoinette Taus' role as Bianca de Jesus in the teen-oriented show that catapulted her claim to fame. The character's development from a bratty, vain and self-conscious kid to an intelligent and emotionally mature "bestfriend you can lean on" was so convincing that her wholesome image gained her the respect and adulation of her growing fans. She seems to leave the impression that her followers could all connect to her by relating to her struggles and triumphs in the world of teens!
But how different is Toni "the teen sensation" from Toni "the real person"? Who is the person behind that twinkly eyes and sweet smile? People close to Toni's heart would know she is Antoinette Cherish Flores Taus. The baby girl that we once knew in the 1985 Johnson and Johnson's ad is now a lady. She turned 18 last August 30 and became that person any girl would envy and any guy would ran after. She graduated valedictorian in her elementary school at L.L. Layug School and after her first year at O.B. Montessori, she was accelerated to third year. Though her busy schedule resulted to her finishing high school via DECS Home Study she continues to pursue her studies at the Ateneo de Manila University taking up a course in Political Science.
HERstory. Toni's venture into the world of showbiz began when she did an ad for Johnson and Johnson's Baby Lotion TV commercial at the tender age of 4. She instantly invaded the world of advertisement, through TV commercials (Colgate, Tang, Eskinol and Chowking to name a few) and print ads like the ones she did for Vitarich and Motorola Glow in the Dark Pager. But her natural talent would soon exude and help her broaden her horizon as she started to grace other media namely TV, Film and Stage.
She first appeared in "Ang TV" (1993) after she and her brother passed the auditions with flying colors. This led to her early TV exposures in shows like Oki Doki Dok (Channel2), Sine Skuwela (Channel 2), Home Sweet House (Channel 5) and Dear Heart (Channel 13). And it will be that infamous role as Bianca in TGIS (Channel 7) that will make her a household name in the world of television. At present, she plays the role of Anna in "Annakarenina", a Sunday afternoon drama series on GMA-7. Every Sunday, we see her as one of the hosts in the noontime variety show SOP, also on GMA. Toni's natural endowments and irresistible charms elicited none but raves from the GMA Family, thus when it launched a new teen-slasher series, "Tago Ka Na!" it is no surprise that she was given one of the lead roles.
Naturally, Toni's talent would eventually be extended in the film industry. She first tried her luck in the movie "Kung Ako'y Iiwan Mo" with Lorna Tolentino and Gabby Concepcion. Other movies followed but it was her role as a child possessed by a demon spirit in "Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara" that would earn her credibilty in film acting. She received critique's praise for her performance in the said film and was even nominated for Best Supporting Actress that same year. Her latest film, "Kiss Mo 'Ko" (1999) wherein she co-starred with her favorite leading man and loveteam partner Dingdong Dantes, was a blockbuster. A proof that their loveteam on TV could also draw big attention on the big screen. Their previous films, "Honey, My Love, So Sweet" (1999) and "I'm Sorry, My Love" (1998) were among the box-office hits in the respective years of their release. Yes, Toni is a pint-sized beauty but her superb talent transcends all colors and genres. Unknown to many, she is one of the most promising stage actresses in the country. So far, she played the lead roles in 3 stage productions which are I Ought to be in Pictures, The Wiz and The Wizard of Oz. But theatre advocates will never forget her convincing portrayal of the boy (no less!) Gavroche in Les Miserables (1994) as presented by Repertory Philippines.
Acting is not the only thing that is fabulous about Antoinette's set of genes. She can also execute complicated dance routines in her TV guestings and even belt out notes from songs that are close to her heart. Her singing prowess is so remarkable that her first album "First Voice" was a certified Gold Record and she's on her way to releasing her second LP which will be revival-oriented. She considers Regine Velasquez as her idol when it comes to singing, but as a performer, she would want to be like the megastar Sharon Cuneta.
If you think you've read all of Toni's achievement already, think again! This wise young lady is honing her entrepreneurship skills as she manages her very own record bar in Angeles City called Antoinette's World of Music. Truly, Toni is a perfect candidate for the role model of today's generation. Not only does she have the physical attributes, academic background and talents to boot, but her will and determination in achieving her goals will definitely put her mark in the history of Philippine show business.
