Rare Natural Untreated California Himalaya Mine Raspberry Pink Tourmaline
This raspberry pink tourmaline comes from the Himalaya Tourmaline mine in San Diego County, California. The Himalaya mine is well known for many colors of tourmalines, but is particularly known for its hot pink tourmalines and unusual true raspberry red colored stones. Stones from this mine are found in several major museums and private collections.
Tourmalines are naturally rarely eye-clean, especially over 1 carat in size. Eye-clean natural pink, bi-color and raspberry pink are even more rare, and bi-color and raspberry pink are and this stone has a flaw on one side of the table. Based on the consensus of color and quality grading systems, the clarity is I in the general sense.
The Himalaya mine was part of a boom in tourmaline mining in San Diego County in the late 1800's, when the dowager empress of China and her court were buying most of the production of several mines.
