"The Land of the Rising Sun" This name comes from the characters (sun) and (origin) and it is the name of one of the greatest nations on Earth. This nation is a very unique country in many ways. The language spoken there is said to be one of the hardest in the world. The animation created there is said to be the best. This nations's past weaves back for centuries undisturbed by the rest of the world. And its present state envelopes the modern ideas of the western world while maintaining its traditions and its identity. It is the nation of Japan. And this site is what I can see of it from on top of my roof.

Sometimes, when you want something done, you just have to take forever to do it ^_^ First, I decided to revise my profile a little bit. Also, I finally got chapters 1 and 2 completely complete. Next stop, chapters 3 and 4. So far, I just plan to alter the chapter 3 lessons and add one or two, but I am much less definate about how chapter 4 will turn out. There's so much I need to present, so I need to find a way to divide it into groups or perhaps additional lessons. Hopefully I can get through all that in good time. I'm really anxious to get to the chapter on kanji. I also plan to fix up the kana lessons a bit. Actually, I might also decide to have a similar coloumn under katakana about the basics of how kanji work instead of presenting it all in lesson form. So stay tuned.
For the longest time, I've been having a problem with creating examples for my lessons. I'm very pleased with the outcome of the ones I have created, but they become increasingly difficult to come up with. That's why I've decided to increase the amount of vocabulary I teach early on. I figure, you have to learn vocab sometime, so it might as well come in bulk and early. So I've removed to vocab link on the first chapter and instead just introduced the vocab before each group of examples. I plan to redo my second chatper in a similar way too soon. I know I haven't really progressed with my more advanced lessons yet, but I will once I get the early ones how I want them. Also, schools coming back in a few weeks and if it was anything like last year, I'll have plenty of free time to plan out my lessons.
I've made a lot of changes in this last update. They were badly needed, too, since I haven't updated for over 2 weeks. First off, I changed the coloring and layout a bit with white/blue links and breaks at the bottom of the page seperating navigation links. Actually, the layout has been like this for a while, but I never made an update for it. I also moved the hiragana lessons to the main page. It's too hard to coordinate them with other lessons and I think it would be easier if people learned them when they wanted to. Also, I've started my katakana lessons. I have the vowel row and the k row up now and more to come. I've finally finished my lesson on topics, but I'm not sure I'm saticefied with it, so it may be changing a bit soon. Other than that, I've only poked and played with some little details. If I can find my plans for the chapter four lessons, I start on those soon.
