B-side-Indiepopscenezine - Transister

These days it's not really an advantage to present a slightly dark album which is a combination of samples and raw instruments. It's an unlucky circumstance to have a front woman who has the vocal capabilities which are similar to someone else. This can be a case of a remarkable American preference for English sounds.

But if you're a studio musician who has just discovered the technical possibilities and are making good use of them, this will be a controversial band, because their product sounds like plagiary. The least that can be said is that it's far from groundbreaking. And even if you state that they are a bit older than the members of the meant band, Transister can't escape the comparison. It doesn't matter that their album is better than Version 2.0. If you listen carefully, you'll come to the conclusion that the melodylines and liveliness outclass it. But at the end of the day the single 'Look Who's Perfect Now' won't be remembered because of the resemblance. Bassist and sampler Eric Pressly doesn't care about this. He wants to convey emotions and to taken seriously as a musician. Hitherto he had to settle for studio sesions. In London recorded demos found unexpectedly their way to LA, where they were picked up by a local radio station who put them into heavy rotation. This led to a record deal. And a band like Transister would have had bad counsellors to let such a chance go by. For the moment they have made the leap into the deep. And maybe they will hit the spotlights. There must be some room open up there.
