Planet Todd - Transister

Transister : 9/10

...This is a god-damned amazing CD. I'm not sure if the more noticable element of Transister is Keely Hawkes' beautiful, carefully trained voice which can sensually whisper sweet everythings without sounding sappy or visciously yell about how she wants you to fall off the world without sounding bitchy, or if it's the music itself, a very clean, perfectly controlled blend of pure-rock-power and dreamlike ambience.

I'm convinced that if any female-led-band could settle well with the more macho type, it would be Salt.. ... ...if any two bands could settle well, I believe they would be Salt and Transister.

The only flaw of this whole album is the track 'Head,' in which Transister lets their guard down and puts in some cheesey answering machine messages that feature Keely sounding like a psychotic bitch (maybe it's just a woman thing). Fortunately, the track is led by its incredibly dreamlike guitar, and the majority of the track is driven by it's instrumental half.

The track 'Day #1' has become an anthem for me, holding a confident sense of independence through lines like; "when I'm loving where I'm standing, when I'm standing on my own..." 'Stars Collide' by be a bit strange, but it's oddity gives it an overall sense of charm, like me, dammit, like me. 'Flow,' the final track, is a lighter one, but by god if it isn't wonderful anyway... I could glorify just about every track, but I'll spare you the time vital for searching for this work of brilliance. I hold this album as one of the greatest debut CD's I own, and if your tastes are anything like mine, you will too. So go forth, I command you! Search Ebay! Search Napster! Search GEMM(I recommend)! Search the cracks of the couch! Do anything within your capabilities to FIND THIS ALBUM!!!
