Vestmanlands - Transister
It is easy to give up listening to the trio Transisters
debut album after only 30 sec, because the single hit 'Look who's
perfect now' has so embarrassly many similarities with Garbage's
'Supervixen.' But if you take your finger away from the off-button
you will find a band with unexpected quality. It is true that the
Garbage influences are obvious trough the whole album, but just
like the model Garbage, Transister has a colorful female singer
who saves their honor. Keely Hawkes has a voice full of charisma,
which cuts holes in the machine roar and the mean guitars. Beside
Hawkes's voice there is a bunch of strong pop songs that more than
enough compensates the lack of originality. It is hard to resist
a powerful ballad like 'Day #1' or the chorus of 'Then I walked
away.'
