.Feis Tips.

Always get a good amount of sleep the night before the feis.

To keep your poodle socks up, buy a bottle of sock glue (usually at the vendors, look near the shoes and poodle socks). The stuff costs about $8.00, but is well worth it. Before you dance, fold your sock down and roll the glue on all over the part of your leg that the sock usually covers. Unfold the sock and pull it back up, and you're good to go.

For slippery soft shoes, use rosin, hairspray, or even a little bit of water or pop if you're in a pinch.

For slippery hardshoes, duct tape is best, but this may look sloppy in competition, so rosin is your next best bet.

Always smile and keep your head up, the judge likes to see confident dancers.

Although you are usually not directly judged on appearance, I can guarantee that you will not win first if your shoes are untied, your wig is falling out, and your dress has a huge stain all over the front of it.

Yes, posture does count! It doesn't matter how great your trebles are or how high you can get your glides if you do it all slumped over. Head up, shoulders back, hands in fists at your sides. Practice this all the time, and soon it will come naturally.

Generally, when a feis is indoors it tends to get very hot. While I'm waiting to dance the heat tends to make me tired and sluggish. If its not snowing or raining it helps if you go outside in the fresh air to keep you awake. Also drink water and keep moving. You don't have to run around or anything just keep moving! posted by Hillary
