Colva Beach

Exotic Colva Beach is famous for lazily swaying palm trees and glittering silvery white sand. Colva Beach is located 6 km away from Margao city in South Goa. This Goa's longest beach has 20 km of virgin white sands, palm fringed and sun drenched. Unique to this beach is that sand, sea and sky blend in enchanting natural harmony is unspoilt by man. The best time to visit this place is from December to February. Colva Beach can easily be described as a jewel in Goa's crown of beaches. Only a few can rival its scenic splendor. Many quality restaurants here in Colva serve a range of exotic cuisine and quality accommodation is easily available nearby. It's very safe to swim at this beach and visitors can really have a gala time at this beautiful place. Colva Beach is much quieter and beautiful beach in among other beaches of Goa. This beach provides tourists an opportunity to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Fishing is the best option to enjoy this quieter atmosphere.

Attractions Around Colva Beach

Benaulim Beach is just 2 km away from Colva. It's recognized as a very peaceful and serene place. Interestingly Benaulim is still rather undiscovered by domestic tourists even if it's a fishing beach. Colva beach is fairly crowded in evenings and on weekends. It gets fairly crowded with local visitors getting off the buses 1 km away and pouring onto the beach.


St John Church Baptist, situated on a hill beyond the village, is worth visiting. When the monsoon arrives, Feast of St John the Baptist (Sao Joao) is celebrated here as a thanksgiving. Young men wearing crowns of leaves and fruits tour the area singing for gifts. Goans commemorate the movement of St John in his mother's womb when he was in his mother's womb and visited by Mary, the mother of Jesus, the young men of this village jump in the wells.

Colva village, a popular destination on the southern coast is famous for the fishing communities living there for around hundred years. This is a beautiful village, abundant with coconut trees and verdant fields. This village is surrounded with hundreds of palm trees.

Adventure Activities at Colva Beach

Colva Beach is also known for its beach activities. Tourist can enjoy some of the water sports like Jet Skiing and Speed boat rides. These are the two main water sports which one can try on Colva beach. Jet Skiing machine is very simple to handle but it is only suitable for those who don’t have any problem with high speed. Speed boat ride is better for those who are not interested in Jet Skiing. Speed boat ride can be enjoyed in the group of six people. There are lots of boatmen on the beach who will take you on dolphin-spotting trips, crocodile trips or island tours. Colva is also known for the bull fights. These bull fights are held in the open spaces.

How To Reach Colva Beach

Dabolim Airport is the closest airport which is situated 29 kms away from capital city Panaji and 68 kms from Colva beach. The closest railway station is at Karmali which is around 11 kms from from Panaji. Regular bus services are available from Margao and Vasco da Gama. These buses depart from KTC bus stand, located 3 km north of Margao city. Some regular buses also ply from here to Colva, Majorda, Benaulim and other nearby villages. You may also get Interstate bus services from KTC bus stand. Tourists may also ply from nearest railway station which is located about 3 km from Margao city center.
