7X03 - The Sixth Extinction

Barnes, a scientist suspected of Markmallen's murder, arrives and meets up with Scully and a woman scientist named N'gebe. They work to find out the meanings of a markings on the spacecraft that Scully found. The markings talk about human genetics and religion. Barnes is insane and threatens Scully and N'gebe but they escape. Barnes kills his driver, but the man comes back to life and kills Barnes. Meanwhile, Michael Kritschgau visits Mulder. Skinner and Kritchsgau discover that Mulder has ESP abilities. Agent Fowley stops them from moving Mulder out of the hospital. Alone with Mulder, who seems unresponsive, she confesses her love for him. Later, Scully arrives from Ivory Coast. She goes to see a still unresponsive Mulder, and she pleads with him to hold on, that what she had found may save him.

7X04 - The Sixth Extinction II

Cigarette-Smoking Man visits Mulder in his hospital room. They talk telepathically, and CSM announces to Mulder that "I'm your father." He takes Mulder to an operating room where Mulder dreams of a new life, with Agent Fowley. Scully is visited by Albert Hosteen, who was presumed dead. Scully looks over a book that contains a reference to a "Sixth Extinction" and tries to contact Skinner. However, he's been attacked by Krycek, who escapes and kills Kritschgau. Mulder goes through an operation to put some of his DNA into CSM. In Mulder's dream, he's about to die of old age but Scully calls him a coward for giving up. Back in real life, Scully rescues him from the operating lab. Strangely, CSM and Agent Fowley have disappeared.

A week later, Scully visits Mulder in his apartment. He's healing, but he's lost his abilities. Scully informs him that Agent Fowley was murdered.

7X01 - Hungry

Mulder and Scully investigate the death of a young man who had his brain eaten. They go to the fast-food restaurant where he died. One of the workers, Derwood, seems suspicious because he doesn't have his employee badge. An innocent-looking employee, Rob, turns out to be a genetic monster who has cravings for human brains. Mulder ultimately figures it out, but Scully's alternate theories postpone Rob's arrest. Derwood also knows about Rob's guilt but Rob kills him. Rob goes to a psychiatrist named Mindy to try to overcome his eating problem. Mindy confronts Rob about the murder and he tears his ears off, but she's not scared; she feels sorry for him. Mulder and Scully barge in and Mindy asks Rob to give himself up so he can get help for his disorder. However, Rob charges at the agents and gets fatally shot. He gasps, "I don't wanna be something I'm not."

7X05 - Millennium

Mulder and Scully investigate a mysterious corpse disappearance that has a connection to the Millennium Group. The agents find Frank Black, a former member of the group. At first reluctant to help, Frank gives Mulder and Scully information about the Necromancer, a man who can raise the dead. A police deputy is killed by the Necromancer but he comes back to life in the morgue and attacks Scully, but the Necromancer shoots the deputy in the head, saving Scully. The Necromancer escapes. Meanwhile, Mulder goes into the Necromancer's house but the Necromancer traps him in the basement. Frank Black looks for Mulder and he runs into the Necromancer. The Necromancer is happy to see Frank because Frank is supposed to be one of the men who will commit suicide then be raised from the dead and rule the New Age. The Necromancer gives Frank a gun to kill himself with, but Frank points it at the Necromancer and ties him up. Frank finds Mulder, who's being stalked by undead zombies and is being protected by a ring of salt. Frank shoots the zombies but runs out of bullets. Scully arrives just in time to shoot the last zombie.

On New Year's Eve in a hospital, Scully brings Frank's daughter to him and the two leave together. Scully and Mulder stay behind and they kiss as the clock strikes midnight.

7X06 - Rush

Mulder and Scully investigate the mysterious bludgeoning death of a deputy in the woods. The main suspect is a teenager named Tony, and the murder weapon seems to have been a flashlight. Tony doesn't want to talk. After studying a surveillance tape, Mulder concludes that the thief was someone who could move extremely fast. Another teenager, Max, and his girlfriend, Chastity, seem to have received powers to move extremely fast. Max turns out to be the culprit of the deputy's murder as he kills his teacher in the school cafeteria by causing a chair to fly across the room. Max's father, the sheriff, starts to suspect his son. Max attacks his father, but Tony stops him. Tony and Chastity flee to the cave that seems to be the source of Max's power. Tony arrives after Chastity and finds her lying on the ground with Max standing over her. Max moves at lightning speed as he rams Tony into the wall. However, Chastity shoots Max as well as herself, killing them. Scientists find nothing special in the cave and it's sealed up with concrete.

7X07 - The Goldberg Variation

A man named Weems seems to have incredible luck as he wins $100,000 from mobsters in a poker game, is thrown from a building, and survives the fall. He hides from the agents because he doesn't want to have to testify against, Cotrona, the leader of the mobsters. One of the mobsters enters Weems' apartment but he's killed when his own gunshot causes a chain of events that lead to him being hung from the ceiling. Weems' hobby is building Goldberg machines. He built one for a young friend, Richie, who suffers from hepatitis. He's trying to get $100,000 to fund a transplant for Richie, who has a rare blood type. Another mobster ends up killing himself when an errant bullet meant for Weems bounces around the room, grazes Mulder's arm, and kills the mobster. An angry Cotrona has Richie's mother kidnapped just as Richie's condition becomes life-threatening. Weems goes to save Richie's mother but Cotrona catches him. However, Weems accidentally knocks an iron into a pool of water which ends up electricuting one of Cotrona's mobsters and causing a huge metal hook to hit Cotrona, killing him. Weems' luck is so incredible that Cotrona's blood type is the same as Richie's and the transplant is successful.

7X08 - Orison

A mysterious clergyman, Orison, helps death fetishist Donnie Pfaster (from "Irresistible") escape from prison. He confronts Pfaster, who runs him over with his own car. Scully and Mulder question Orison. Mulder says that he was a convicted murderer who believed he was supposed to kill Pfaster. Mulder thinks that he also used mass hypnosis to allow Pfaster to escape so he could accomplish his mission. Pfaster goes to Orison's house and orders in a female escort. He tries to kill the girl, but she escapes. Orison points a gun at him and tells him to repent for his sins, but Pfaster appears to morph into a demon and kills Orison. Pfaster attacks Scully in her apartment and ties her up, saying that she's the one that "got away." Mulder tries to call Scully but there's no answer. Pfaster takes a very long time running Scully's bath. Mulder barges in and holds Pfaster at gunpoint. Scully emerges and shoots Pfaster dead.

7X09 - The Amazing Maleeni

The Amazing Maleeni and his magician protege Labonge perpetrate a robbery scheme with Mulder and Scully at its center. Maleeni fakes his own death and Labonge pretends that he hates Maleeni so that the agents will suspect Labonge of murder. Meanwhile, through a clever series of magic tricks, Labonge and Maleeni acquire Mulder's fingerprint and badge. They steal 1.8 million dollars from a bank and frame a biker loan shark by the name of Alvarez. He tells them that it's all Labonge and Mulder realizes the truth. The agents confront Maleeni and Labonge, who walk away in a huff. He swipes Maleeni's wallet, revealing the playing card that held Mulder's fingerprint. Without the fingerprint, Maleeni and Labonge can't make the electronic funds transfer of multi-millions that they were planning.

7X10 - Signs and Wonders

A young man named Jared is killed by 50 snakes. Mulder and Scully come to Tennessee to investigate. Reverand Mackie of the Blessing Community Church tells the agents that Jared had been a member of the Church of God with Signs and Wonders and that the leader of that Church, Enich O'Connor, preaches snakehandling. The agents find snakes in Enich's home and suspects him. Enich suffers from multiple snakebites while in jail. He kidnaps his daughter and she gives birth to snakes. Enich tries to kill Mackie but he's shot by Mulder. Enich tells Mulder to be smart in his heart. Mulder realizes that Mackie impregnated Enich's daughter. Mackie attacks Mulder with snakes but Scully saves him. Mackie disappears and moves on to a new town, ready to seduce another group of faith-seekers.

7X11 - Sein Und Zeit

A young girl, Amber Lynn LaPierre is kidnapped mysteriously. Mulder takes the case. The FBI thinks that the mother is a suspect. Mulder thinks not. He questions a woman who had been convicted of murdering her child, even though a body was never found. She tells the LaPierres that their child is okay and she knows how they feel. Skinner chides Mulder for having given the suspects a "twinky defence". Mulder's mother is dead. He wants Scully to autopsy her. Scully says that Mulder's mother committed suicide because she had an incurable disease. Mulder contemplates the theory of "walk-ins", spirits that take away innocent children to protect them from evil. Mulder, Scully, and Skinner visit a children's park. A fat Santa Claus imposter tries to flee the scene but Skinner catches up to him. Several shallow graves are uncovered. To be continued...

7X12 - Closure

A psychic named Piller approaches Mulder about the LaPierre case. He senses connections between Amber Lynn and Samantha. He has seen visions of "walk-ins" who turn children into starlight to protect them from a terrible fate. Scully is skeptical, yet Mulder experiences "psychic writing", scribing "April Base". Cancer Man tells Scully that he believed Samantha was dead. Piller and Mulder find Samantha's and Jeffrey Spender's handprints on the ground in front of a house near April Base. Scully, Mulder, and Piller hold hands inside the house and several ghostly spirits appear. One leads them to find Samantha's diary. In it, she describes how she hates the tests, and the men who are doing it. Mulder goes into the forest where he sees ghosts of children, including Amber Lynn and Samantha. He comes back and declares that they are dead, they're in a better place.

7X13 - X-Cops

Mulder and Scully investigate a vicious clawing attack in a Los Angeles suburb. It attacked Wetzel, a local deputy. It kills a local sketch artist. A prostitute who found the dead artist, Chantara, is taken in for questioning. She's afraid of having her former boyfriend and she ends up dead. Scully autopsy's Chantara's body and her assistant, afraid of contagions, wants to take procautions. Scully mentions the hanta virus and the assistant suddenly dies from it. Mulder hypothesizes that the monster preys on fear, and kills its victims through their own worst nightmares. Deputy Wetzel has a childhood fear of a wasp monster, and he's attacked three times in one night, the third time being at dawn, which is when the monster stops. Mulder realizes that it won't be until the next full moon when it will attack again.

7X14 - First Person Shooter

A young man is killed while playing in a virtual reality game. Mulder and Scully come to investigate, and they run into the Lone Gunmen. The killer is in the game, and she murders a video game expert sent in to kill her. No trace evidence is left on the dead bodies. A stripper named Jade Blue AfterGlow had her body scanned and put into the game. Mulder goes into the game but he becomes stuck in it with a killer female character. Scully goes in after him. The Lone Gunmen shut down the game and save the agents, who are unharmed despite fighting dozens of the killer female character who had committed the murders.

7X15 - Theef

A doctor's father is murdered mysteriously. Scully thinks it was a suicide. A withered man named Mr. Petie is using voodoo to kill the family of Dr. Weider. The agents visit a magic expert who says that the killer is using coufer dust and a puppet with tiny objects sewn inside to commit his crimes. Weider reveals that he had treated Petie's daughter for severe injuries after a bus accident. He had let her die because she was in horrible pain. Scully brings Dr. Weider and his daughter to a cabin but Petie finds them. He makes a puppet of Scully, sewing her badge and a lock of hair inside. He blinds her by spearing the puppet with nails. However, Mulder arrives and finds the puppet, removing the nails and allowing Scully to gun down Petie.

7X16 - En Ami

Cancer Man implants a chip into a little boy's neck and cures him of cancer, but the parents believe that God's angels cured the boy during the night. Cancer Man offers the cure of cancer to Scully, but he doesn't want Mulder to know about it. Scully agrees to go on a trip with Cancer Man to see the secrets of the computer chip that cures cancer. He tries to earn her trust, but she remains distant. Mulder and the Lone Gunmen find out about a man named Cobra who had been emailing Scully for six months. He thinks that Cancer Man hacked into Scully's computer to impersonate her in emails with Cobra. Scully meets with Cobra, who gives her a minidisc with his life's work on it, but he dies from a sniper shot. Cancer Man switches Scully's disk with a blank one and disappears with the its medical secrets. Later, Cancer Man throws the disk away.

7X17 - Chimera

Mulder is assigned to the case of a woman, Martha, who went missing after an encounter with a black raven. Her husband, Howard, thinks she was having an affair. Howard discovers a Martha's dead body after his daughter is startled by a raven. Martha's best friend sees a raven almost attack her baby and a man who can only be seen in mirrors chases her into a closet but disappears. Her husband, the sheriff, is having an affair with a strange woman named Jenny who has mirrors everywhere. The sheriff was having an affair with Jenny and Martha and both of them died, so he wonders if he was the cause of the deaths. Later, the sheriff's wife is seen with a huge cut on her neck, stemming from a broken shard of glass that she received while killing Jenny. She changes appearance into a monstrous hairy figure and attacks Mulder, but stops when she turns back into herself. She's put under detention with a split-personality disorder.

7X18 - All Things

Scully refuses to travel with Mulder to witness a crop circle formation. She discovers Dr. Waterston, her former professor, at a hospital. He had resented her decision to leave medical school. Mulder asks her to pick up a set of crop circle photos. She visits Dr. Waterston again, and it's apparent that they had a relationship when he taught her. He goes under cardiac arrest but she saves his life. She visits the crop circle scientist, Colleen, who thinks that Scully has unresolved emotional pain. Scully follows a mysterious woman into a Buddhist shrine and she momentarily falls into an ecstacsy where she sees Dr. Waterston alive. She gets a holistic healer to perform a service on Waterston and he comes out of a coma. He wants to be with her but she doesn't want it.

7X19 - Brand X

A tobacco executive, Dr. Skobie, who was to testify against his employer dies gruesomely with his flesh eaten away. Skinner brings in Mulder and Scully to find answers. Skinner and Mulder meet with Morley Tobacco executives who are tight-lipped about Skobie's work history. Scully autopsies Skobie and finds that he choked to death. An scruffy man named Weaver meets with one of the Morley executives. His neighbor dies with tobacco beetles crawling all over him. An entomologist examines a tobacco beetle found at the death scene and states that it is very different from other tobacco beetles. Scully surmises that the beetles may have fed on genetically engineered tobacco plants and mutated. Scully discovers beetle larvae inside the victim's lungs. Mulder starts to cough up blood. Doctors suction out bugs from Mulder's lungs. Mulder's life is threatened. Skinner finds Weaver and shoots him. Scully sees Weaver's yellow-stained fingers and decides to pump Mulder full of nicotine which kills the beetles inside him.

7X20 - Hollywood A.D.

Mulder and Scully watch a movie premiere of a movie based on them, starring Tea Leoni and Garry Shandling.

Eighteen hours earlier, Mulder and Scully are in Skinner's office with a screenwriter named Dwayne Fitterman. Mulder investigates the attempts being made on the life of Cardinal O'Fallon. Mulder discovers the body of Micah Hoffman in the church crypt. The screenwriter witnesses dancing bones at the crypt. Scully brings the remains of a bowl found at the crypt to the FBI's technologist, Chuck Burkes. He plays the music of the bowl, that is, the natural vibrations of the bowl. Scully autopsies Micah Hoffman, who has wine in him. They go to arrest O'Fallon for murder, but Hoffman walks in, much alive. Burkes plays the music of the bowl, which in Aramaic, contains the dialogue of one man ordering another to come back to life. The agents question Hoffman, who wanted to act as Jesus Christ. He claims to be Christ himself. Mulder and Scully watch the filming of the movie based on them. The same night, Cardinal O'Fallon murders Hoffman then commits suicide.

7X21 - Je Souhaite

A man, Stokes, is cleaning out a storage garage when he encounters a woman inside a carpet. His boss comes in looking for him and ends up losing his mouth. The woman had granted him his wish of making his boss "shut up". Stokes wishes to be invisible but he's hit by a truck and dies. The woman was a genia, a female genie. Stokes' brother wishes that he came back to life, but Stokes comes back as a messed up corpse who's in pain. Stokes is in so much pain that he sets his trailer on fire and kills both him and his brother. Genia tells Mulder and Scully that she was born in 15th century France and became a genie after wishing for long life and power. She tells Mulder that he gets to have three wishes. Mulder wishes for peace on Earth, but she makes everybody disappear. Then he wishes for things to go back to normal. After mulling about his third request, he wishes for Genia's freedom.

7X22 - Requiem

Marita Covarrubias rescues Alex Krycek from a prison in Tunisia, on behalf of Cigarette-Smoking Man. Sheriff Miles, the man from the first episode of the X-Files, is involved in a car accident after an UFO crash. Billy Miles, the abductee from that episode, calls agents Mulder and Scully. Covarrubias and Krycek visit CSM, who informs them of a UFO crash in Oregon. The Alien Bounty Hunter kills Sheriff Miles, then Theresa Nemman is abducted. Covarrubias questions CSM about sending Krycek to find the crashed alien. Krycek and Covarrubias talk to Mulder about finding the alien craft. The Lone Gunmen arrive and show Mulder what the ship looks like. Skinner and Mulder go to Oregon to find the ship, while Scully stays behind with the Lone Gunmen. She thinks that Mulder is going to be abducted. Mulder steps into a circular halo, joining a group of alien abductees. The Bounty Hunter joins them too, and an alien ship carries them away, as Skinner watches in awe. Krycek goes to CSM and throws him down a flight of stairs, killing him. Meanwhile, Scully tells Skinner that she's pregnant.
