Married with Elisa Vianna Cruz (Elisinha), also born in the same town of Sabará, MG, Brazil, on the 29th/May/1885, and died in the city of Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil, on the 14th/Jul/1965, daughter of Paulo Alves dos Santos Vianna and of Maria Flávia Chelles (Fafá), in Sabará, MG, Brazil, on the 4th/Jan/1908. |

He was a jeweler and watchmaker, owner of the pretty traditional "Jewellery Store and Watchmakers Shop Theodomiro Cruz", the first one of Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil, which was localized during many years in the Praça 7 de Setembro [7th of September Square], in the corner between Av. Afonso Pena [Afonso Pena Avenue] and Rua Rio de Janeiro [Rio de Janeiro Street], where is today the Edifice Helena Passig. The shop continued to occupying almost the same point, after the construction of the new edifice. The quality of the gold and of the artistic work became famous, since the foundation, not only in the interior of Minas Gerais, but even also in Goiás, where the "tropeiros" [mule troop conductors] took the jewels, starting from Sabará, MG, Brazil. Then in Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil, was obligatory point of meeting of all the most important public men. Resided with the family, during many years, in the same building, where many of his children were born. | |||

The enterprise were founded in Sabará, MG, Brazil, in 1894 (30th/Mar/1894?), and his Jewellery Store and Workshop of Jewels worked at the Rua do Caquende [Caquende Street], till they were transferred to Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil, in1912, a few years after the foundation of the new Capital. Already in Sabará, MG, Brazil, was called "A Âncora Sabarense" ["The Anchor of Sabará"] - goldsmithery and watchmakers shop, that, in 1905, announced: "varied assortment of jewels in gold and silver, articles of good taste, Âncora [Anchor] pocket-watchs, in gold, in silver, in oxidazed steel, in nickel, and in aluminium; pendulums, alarm-clocks, table-clocks and there is also the famous watchs Omega, bought from direct import houses. The house in which we work, is opened from 7 o´clock in the morning till 8 and half at evening" [see: MACHADO, Profª Maria de Lourdes Guerra. Nas Ruas de Sabará [In The Streets of Sabará], pg. 269]. After his death, the store continued, administered by the son Celso, posteriorly seconded by Milton, this starting in 1939, openned till Nov/1978, having finished its activities by lack of continuators, after 84 years of existence. | |||

He was also a poet, having left a book with poesy, Veras [Truths], published in 1905, and many sparse poems. He used the pseudonym [pen name] "Raul Moreno". | |||

The book was dedicated to the memory of two teachers and friends, Luiz Cassiano and Arthur Lobo, to whom he called of "inditosos" ["unfortunate"]. | |||

After a brief introduction, in verses, the book is divided in two parts, "Ex-corde" and "Impressões" ["Impressions"]. The book has merited many critics of Osório Duque Estrada, by the pages of the Correio da Manhã [Morning Newspaper], having the author being defended in public by Augusto de Lima. | |||

He also merited a sonnet, inedited, of his friend Commendatary Arthur Vianna, drawing his "Perfil" ["Profile"], with the title of "Theodomiro Cruz" ["Theodomiro Cruz"], dated of 28th/Jan/1957, wiich was dedicated to the widow, Elisinha. | |||

Among the sparse poems that he left, we underline the magnificent sonnet "Aos Bons" ["To The Good Ones"], dedicated to the kindhearted people, that was publishedo, with one note about the author, under the title "Um Grande Poeta Nacional" ["A Great Nacional Poet"], in the Magazine Minas Illustrada [Illustrated Minas], of 1937. Also dedicated poesy to the kins, like "Entre Rosas" ["Among Roses"] and "À Isaura" ["To Isaura"], both dedicated to the daughter Isaura, and "Cupido, O Amor" ["Cupid, The Love"], dedicated to his sisters-in-law then maiden, Odília, Petrina, and Alcina Vianna, all of them inedited. | |||

He was "post-mortem" awarded , in the year of 1979, by the Prefecture of Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil, with the Comenda da Ordem dos Pioneiros [Commendam of the Order of the Pioneers], received, some year later, by his daughter Isaura Cruz Continentino, by having being the first jeweler and watchmaker of Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil. Besides that, the city of Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil, honoured him in the name of the "Rua Teodomiro Cruz" ["Teodomiro Cruz Street"] (without the "H"), whose ZIP code is 30.240, and it is located in the neighborhood of São Lucas [Saint Luke]. Theodomiro Cruz resided in Sabará, MG, Brazil, at the Rua do Caquende [Caquende Street], having moved to Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil, in 1912. |
