Start to learn French
|
in between |
|
do all the stuff IAESTE wants you to do
|
2 months before |
|
- check, if your passport is still valid for at least 8 months
- check the properties of your insurances
|
4 weeks before |
|
- no sign of life from IAESTE? Send an email to your national committee and ask what happened
- look for flights to Tunisia, it can be a lot cheaper to go to Monastir instead of Tunis.
|
when you get your contract |
|
- book the flight
- send a mail to IAESTE Tunisia and tell them your exact time and place of arrival
- send a mail to your employer, so somebody of the company knows that you'll actually arrive and would like to work there
|
2 weeks before |
|
create a new email account if you use hotmail, since it's not accessible from Tunisia. Yahoo works.

then |
|
get nervous and the stuff from this list
- passport that's still valid for 6 months more
- your IAESTE contract
- good backpack
- sandals
- sun screen
- sun hat
- after sun
- sting relief cream
- ear plugs (not to be awaken by nightly Muezzin prayer calls)
- dictionary
- for swimming: swimming glasses, swimming sandals (for some of the more rocky beaches), shorts for men, swimming suits for women (bikinis are not very common)
- light clothing (many T-shirts, locals mostly wear long trousers, bras are obligatory for women)
- 1 thin pullover (to hold you warm during nights at the beach)
- 1 longsleeve (to protect your red skin during days in the sun)
- travel guide (e.g. lonely planet)
- camera and film rolls (do get your films developped back home, better quality and cheaper)
- some photos from home
- some typical stuff from home to give as gifts to new friends (sweets, music, ...)
- songbook
- map of your home continent/country
- cooling covers for water bottles if available
