If you are looking for a good seafood restaurant on the Westbank, don't stop here. Having only dined here a few times, I will no longer step foot in the place. Fried seafood is very easy to do good. It takes a really bad restaurant to screw it up. Well, the seafood here has no taste to it. All but one of the times it came to the table, it was cold. Maybe I should have tried one of the non-seafood entrees. But I figure that if they cannot produce a decent seafood platter, then what kind of job are they going to do on Steak or Grilled Fish, something that takes skill to prepare right. But as always, there was one item that will probably bring me back again. Their Seafood Gumbo is some of the best around. The only think they could have left out was the Crab Shell. Some people feel that you are not eating gumbo if the crab carcass is missing. I am not of that school. i feel that you could put more gumbo in a bowl if the crab is missing.
The menu reads like a typical seafood restaurant: Fried Seafood Platters, Grilled Fish, Chicken, Steaks, and the Hamburger Steak, which seems to be making a comeback. They offer a wide variety of appetizers, soups, and salads.
The service was ok. You will be hjard pressed to find many good servers on the westbank. Most of the good servers have moved to restaurants on the eastbank. They feel, rightfully so, that they can make better money across the river.
With the selection of places where you can get good seafood, Lil' Boudreau's is far down the list. The best thing to do would be to order a bowl of gumbo to go. |
