Driver Information

A 43-year-old native of Washington, Carey Mahoney has spent his entire life around cars and racing. Mahoney is not only the driver, but also makes all the tuning decisions on the Big Time top alcohol funny car. Mahoney builds the racing engines for Big Time and many other racecars out of Cam-1 Automotive in Battle Ground, WA. Mahoney has had the business for over 20 years and is the cars lone sponsor. Mahoney's slogan towards drag racing is painted on the top of his car. It reads, "When the need for speed overcomes the fear of death." Here's a timeline of Mahoney's endeavors:

1974-1977
Maintained sand drag car for Beetle Auto Haus located in Vancouver, WA.

1978-1985
Built, drove, and tuned a D Modified Buggy sand drag car, winning an unimaginable 15 races in the 1978 season.

1986-1988
Built, drove, and tuned a Volkswagen sand drag car which finished #1 in modified buggy points overall.
Built engines and tuned the Northwind, a AA Sand Modified Jeep which collected two National Records.

1988-Present
Driver and Tuner of the Big Time Top Alcohol Funny Car.

Mahoney has greatly contributed to Sand Drag Racing in the Northwest. Mahoney has been president of the NSCA (National Sand Competition Association) and the NWSCA (Northwest Sand Competition Association).He has helped build many race tracks in Washington and Oregon.
