With Brendino's marvelous inspiration, we have tackled his questions:

 - Clothes - Cooking - Camping - Shopping - Flying - Driving - Insurance

Clothes
Does it get Cold or Wet at night? yes, we camp near 1,500 metres some nights
Paddling pants or shorts for paddling? It seriously depends on the river - how high it is up the valley, it's exposure to sun and the time of day. have dry pants & shorts for maximum flexibility.
Spare Kit for paddling? Flask? Yes. Lot's of duct tape, foam, glue and cable ties etc.
Jumper/Fleece Jacket/Wooly Hat/Gortex? It gets cold at night so what you bring is up to you, normally a single big fleece, jacket & hat is enough. We all smell by the end of it anyway.

Cooking
Will we be cooking in Car groups? Normally but it's up to people to choose what they want to do. Sometimes it may be the people in the car on that particular day cook together - not necessarily the people who travelled over in the car.
Is there usually only 1 cooked meal a day? Yes - the temperature generally reduces your appetite
Do people eat together in a big group or just when they are ready? When they're ready. There is always some flaffers who don't get their act together - no way are the rest wainting for them! Sometimes we organise a B.B.Q. though.
Is there facilities to wash up dishes or will we need to have a basin? Sinks with cold water. Mmmmm! If you need a basin you can buy one cheap, don't bother bringing one from Ireland That goes for other usual cooking utensils also.
Is there a fridge on site? No way! Cooler bags (if you bring them) and UHT - get used to it!

Camping
Do we need to pay per person, per tent or as a group? We pay as a group. The site has a cost, the tent has a cost and each person has a cost. Hence, we minimize tents as all costs are just spread evenly (at least this is what I remember).
Is there an extra cost for having a car on site? At some campsites, yes.
Will be moving a lot or even at all during the first week? Yes - see the itinerary - moving, whilst a pain, keeps the holiday fresh & it has worked very succesfully in 3 other Alps trips.
How much are camp fees usually? Eeehhhhh... budget about €7-9 per night per person

Shopping
Are the supermarkets near by? Sometimes, sometimes not. We do know where they are for each campsite, so we can help you plan your shopping over there.
Is there a shop at the site? At some, but very minimal supplies - water, cans & ices!
Is it every cooking group for themselves? See above
Is it better to shop for food each day or for a few days? Each day. The bread is real fresh then & anyway - we have no way to store perishables. Pasta etc can be held over obviously.
Are Blue Gaz and Meths available in shops? Yes. Hyper-marchés and some local shops (e.g. L’Argentière). Mets is known as "Alcol á bruler" if my French serves me. You might have to check a few shops to get the right size for Blue Gaz but you'll find it eventually.

Flying
Can you bring Meths on the plane? No. Of course sometimes it just seems to get slipped in your boat... Not recommeded though.
Would it be a good move to splint paddles before going on the plane (possibly with a spar for a makeshift roofrack) No. Get a paddle bag which says "Paddles - Top Load Only"
Would we be better putting all of our paddles together in a paddle bag or even with duck tape? Yes. Bubble wrap it if you have no paddle bag & put a huge sticker on it saying "Fragile" and "Top Load Only"

Driving
Will we be travelling in convoy to rivers and campsites when/if we move? Not necessarily, but often when moving campsite.
Is petrol cheaper or more expensive than here? No it is more expensive whilst diesel is the cheapest fuel. Often, one shooses their rental car on this consideration alone.
Should I buy a decent map here or will the rental company give me one for the area? You night get a shitty one off Hertz etc. In general, buy a road map wherever. For geographic features, you need the regional French maps which can be boght over there. Some of us leader-types probably have them (I do!).

Insurance
I already have medical and travel insurance, do I still need the European Medical Card thingy? Yes. I think it means you won't have to pay up front whereas you may with the insurance. It's free anyway so why the hell not!?!
What water grades are covoered by insurance? Often you need to check the small print. Sometimes "kayaking" is upto Gr. 3 (for example) while "canoeing" is up to Gr. 5 (for example). Get the highest grade possible.
