We have decided on a few dates for meetings and training days, which we consider mandatory. 

 

Ok - so we've missed some dates - however, we'll ctach up in Bourg St. Maurice over the first few days so don't worry.

 

Mandatory Meeting/Training days - 2005

 

Meeting - Tuesday 19 April - Meet at Noticeboard at 7:30pm, UCD - (Contact: Allio)

Bit of a talk on the whole trip, this year is bigger than ever at about 45 people so it will take co-operation from everybody to make it work. this night will hopefully reinforce that point and is also a getting-to-know-you for those who aren't around that much.

 

Level 3 Proficiency Training - Saturday 23 April & Sunday 24 April - (Contact: Cormac)

First of our training weekends The first two of which will be dedicated to getting those wanting to paddle up to level 3 standard.

 

Level 3 Proficiency Training & Assessment -Saturday 28 April - Sunday 29 April - (Contact: Cormac)

Second of the weekends purposely for those training for their Level 3 Proficiency Award. This weekend will include a Level 3 Proficiency Assessment for those who are ready. We will try have one more before the Alps.

 

Safety Weekend - Sunday 17 April & TBC - (Contact: Colin)

Everybody going needs to know (a) how to be rescued and if you are rescue (b) how to rescue as well. These are not things that just happen; they are skills that need to be practised by all, and as such, this weekend is ULTRA-MANDATORY!

 

Boathouse Day - Monday 30 May - (Contact: Captain TTom)

Open boathouse for those who are looking to borrow gear.  This is the day that you make sure all your kit is FITTED TO YOU.  You will be living in it for 2 weeks.

 

Lecture/Safety/Party  Night

Lecture/video night in random house, TBC

 

First Aid Refresher Day - Saurday 4 June (Easkey) - (Contact: Mickle)

For those with previous first aid training (AWFA, REC 3), a refreshment day with some scenarios and fruitful discussion. We hope to have some high level first aid trained people there as well as a nurse! Mmmmm!

 

Easkey weekend 3 June – 6 June - (Contact: Mickle)

Every one should make it to Easkey as we will run a large safety training day there, covering signals used in the alpes, scenarios and rescue techniques, TBC.
