ACLE photos ready for browsing

Pictures from the alternative classroom learning experience of the Union of Journalists of the Philippines-UP Diliman are ready for browsing. Photos were taken Friday, January 20, at the College of Mass Communication, UP Diliman.

Entitled "Picture (Im)perfect," the classroom discussion tackled current ethical issues in Philippine photojournalism.

Resource persons included photojournalism instructor Gil Nartea, Philippine Center for Photojournalism chair Jimmy Domingo, Business Mirror's Mon Acosio, Newsbreak's Luis Liwanag and other freelance photographers.

The union also released its literary folio, Tinta, during the event.

Santa Gallery-Batch 2 ready for browsing (Update)

(UPDATE) The second batch of the photos taken during UJP-UP's photoshoot for current school term 2005-2006, second semester, are ready for viewing.

The pictures were taken Nov. 19, 2005 at the Balay Kalinaw, Rodic's and the College of Mass Communication, University of the Philippines-Diliman.

UJP-UP inducts 14 new members

The Union of Journalists of the Philippines--UP Diliman initiated fourteen new members during the first semester, academic year 2005-2006. The induction was held Saturday to Sunday, Oct. 8 to 9, at Gems Resort, Antipolo, Rizal.

Batch Alitaptap included journalism, broadcast communication and communication research majors, most of which are only in their first year of college. The list of new members can be found here.

Photos taken during UJP-UP's week-long celebration of its 17th anniversary are ready for viewing.

The pictures were taken Sept. 19-24, 2005.

Student journalists slam NTC's media threat

We, the members of the Union of Journalists of the Philippines--University of the Philippines-Diliman (UJP-UP), wish to express our grave concern over the alleged wiretapped conversations between President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and an official of the Commission on Elections.

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has ordered radio and television stations, especially all broadcasters, "to be careful and circumspect in the handling of news reportage, coverage of current affairs and discussion of public issues."

The NTC has also warned that the broadcast/airing of the tapes would cause the suspension, revocation and/or cancellation of the radio and television stations' licenses or authorizations issued to (them) if the said tapes are found to be "false and/or fraudulent."  (READ MORE)
